So I tried the first dress on at VW in thoughts that if I loved it I could get it made by a local seamstress, as I certainly couldn't afford a VW. Getting it made I could also make all the adjustments to make it the "perfect" dress I envisioned-- although it makes me nervous to not be able to try on the final product before purchasing. Then I tried on the second dress last weekend and fell in love. The only thing I would change is maybe for the neckline to be a bit more sweetheart cut. And I don't know if I like the bottom of the second dress as much as the first. Although I feel I might just be looking for things at this point. I'm just so confused. Would love to get your feedback on what dress you all like. I'm going for a vintage theme for my wedding if that helps at all, as I keep reminding myself of that every time I analyze each dress.
Re: Torn between two dresses
And @cmgr --an A-line is not flattering on my body. Crazy that you think the mermaid isn't flattering on me, as that is what every consultant has recommended for me.
I think I'll just choose my gown regardless of the theme I'm going for with the wedding, I'm sure it will all fall together beautifully regardless.
Thank you, @liatris2010 ! I lovelovelove the bottom of the first dress as well, and if I went with the option to get it custom made I would leave out the crumb catcher and get a sweetheart neckline.
@jenn5628 --I never said I didn't like the neckline or skirt of the second? I wanted a deeper sweetheart neckline, but that could be fixed I believe, and if not I'd be OK with it bc I still like the top. And I just said I wasn't sure if I liked the first bottom more than the second. I like the funkiness of the bottom of the second, and the fit, and the detail, etc.
I am not a fan of the second dress. I don't like where the skirt starts to flair out. It almost seems to begin at your calf. And I don't like the texture of the bottom.
I think the first dress is very pretty on you. I am not a fan of the crum-catcher neckline but I think the softness of the lace and the layers on the bottom is very pretty and it really suits your shape. Have you considered seeing if you could find something similar by a less expensive brand instead of having it made? Just a suggestion because sometimes getting a dress custom made won't save you nearly as much as you may think.

I completely disagree with CMGr that you should do an A-line. If you have the figure for a mermaid -- rock it!
That being said, I hate crumb-catchers. The rest of the dress is beautiful...but it's called a crumb-catcher. I even hate the name. Ugh...
