Weekend Progress

edited May 2013 in October 2013 Weddings

What'd you get done this weekend?

Pretty good weekend here.

  • Heard that shower invite stuff is mostly finalized
  • I purchased faux flower pomanders for my 4 young flower girls. The older will have a basket with real petals, but the others can just hold a pomander.  So, I found really nice ones already made at a floral distributer/event planning store (it's called G&G Distributors) and they already have a ribbon loop to hold and crystals hanging from the bottom. I also bought little butterflies that I will place throughout the pomander. I liked them! Also, I had originally figured each pomander would be about $30. These faux ones were $4.50 each. Awesome! (And they don't look like $4.50 at all!) Just saved over $100!
  • Bought blank place setting cards and small three dimensional aqua glitter butterflies (one will go on each place setting card). I won't be able to start printing them until right before the day, but at least I now have the supplies
  • Went to Jos A Bank with FI and decided what he will be wearing - a grey tux (looks like a suit basically, which is what FI wanted). FI will have a silver vest and tie and the other guys will have a darker grey vest and tie. I really like it and I know FI is happy too. Also, Jos A Bank also creates a "registry" of all the guys with their names and emails and sent out an automated invitation to each guy to get fitted. (Others might do this as well, but I thought it was pretty neat)

Feeling pretty good. I keep making my way through the list! How about you guys?

Re: Weekend Progress

  • This weekend was semi-productive.

    • painted the other side of the card-box. I ordered the wheels on Friday afternoon, I think they're supposed to get here later this week.
    • made my MOH's and BM's bouquets! They're done! hoooraaaaaay.
    • And my bouquet is almost complete. I think I have all the brooches I want on it, and I wrapped the "stem", so now I just need to finish it off with a little lace or satin. I'm leaning towards the lace.
    • Got about 20 more "tears of joy" packets finished. It's a great "brainless" activity.
This week I should be getting my invitations (eep!) and, NWR, but I'm getting my windshield replaced tomorrow because my rear view mirror fell off on Friday and took a hunk with it. Thank goodness for Safelite warranties... (windshield was replaced Jan 2012, mirror fell off in June 2012 because it was outrageously hot in TX, & it's still under warranty, so they're replacing it for free!) And then I should finally drag myself to the DMV and get my car registered here, as the TX registration expires this month...... sigh.
  • Yesterday, we finally got my fiance's ring size, so now I'm starting to look around for his ring because he pretty much gives no damns about it.

It's crazy seeing the things that people have done because I pretty much haven't done anything besides venue, dress, photographer, save the dates, choosing the wedding party and helping my FMIL choose the rehearsal dinner menu. I don't know if we're just being really light on wedding stuff in general because we're having a low-key wedding or if we're just spectacularly behind, and that's kind of concerning.

You can't post about the cake and not divulge details. :D
  • We have a tentative date for the bachelorette party, and went through the invite list to order our invites!

  • I finished the cocktail centerpieces.  They are all wrapped up and in a box ready to go home for the wedding.  We finalized the last of the ceremony details, next step is just to email it to our priest for his approval.

I'm going home in June and we are spending an entire Saturday afternoon addressing invitations, so I just need to double check the addresses.

The last of the BM gifts came in today, so I just need to stop at the store and pick them up.  All I have left is to over the additional gift for my MOH.
  • Sunday we did our engagement photos. We also basically decided what FI is going to wear the day of we just have to go back and finalize it. Hoping to put the final invitation order in soon but I need to wait till FI finishes the files (he created them). I keep dropping hints so hopefully soon!!

  • Lots getting done, ladies.  For a while, I was like you @ahstillwell, and then all of a sudden I had this surge of planning energy!

Seeing what you have all done is also reminding me of what I still need to do (shower invite list, especially)

It's not that I don't have energy -- it's seriously that I don't care and we aren't doing anything fancy. We're doing a wedding because our families want a wedding, not because we're particularly jazzed up about anything wedding. I feel like I'm a female failure for not being wedding obsessed, heh.

To be fair, the only reason 'm getting "so much" done is because I'm DIYing practically everything I can. Not because I'm wedding obsessed, I don't think, but because crafty things/projects is what I do. I've lost track of how many times I have told my FH that we should just elope so we can just be married already. He keeps saying no because he thinks our moms wouldn't ever forgive us. (I'm pretty sure they would.)

Haha! It will be two square tiers, bottom tier chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling, and top tier lemon cake with black raspberry filling. I'm very excited about the lemon.
  • MOH figured out my shower and Bachelorette party.

We paid off my wedding band and it is being sent out to be sized and dipped in white gold.

Bought all the stamps for the RSVPs.

Started my "Here Comes the Bride" sign.

Bought shirts/supplies to make the BMs shirts for the Bachelorette party (paintballing part).

    Have been slowly assembling invites.

Ordered two signs from Etsy (They should be here this week maybe).

This week I will be working on invites some more (supposed to rain almost every day), finish the one sign, and FI needs to get sized for his ring and get that finalized. I may also put money down on a necklace I found for my mom.

  • I'm not wedding obsessed, but I am detail and task oriented. So, I'm thrilled to cross stuff of a list - whether it be for planning or cleaning the house.

But I do enjoy crafts a lot! And wedding stuff does involve crafts!

  • My FI got fitted for a suit this weekend, and we registered!

We are sitting down to finalize ceremony music and readings this week... and I think I am going to order my ring while Blue Nile has a sale on!
  • We finally picked a bm dress.  Cutting it pretty close, but they are due in early August, which with our late October date should be fine.  I absolutely love them, can't wait to see all of the girls!

    imageimage
  • @Simply I love them.  Great color, and great cut, it will look good on any shape.
  • We're getting them in Wine, which is a bit more burgundy.  The designer's site doesn't allow for color change like some other sites, but we saw another dress in this line in Wine at the salon and it's gorgeous!
  • I really like the back of that dress!

  • That dress is BEAUTIFUL!!  WOWZAS!!

My MOH found hers at Ross for less than $15 (I gave her a swatch to carry to color match) and she said it was pretty darn close; good enough for me!  :)

But that dress...man...I kind of want it just to wear it to all those nice restaurants we don't eat at because we're broke.  ;)

Honestly though, that's a great choice!  Can I be in your BP?!  :)
