  • Seriously Retreat?  You reported those posts for abuse?  In what universe is there anything remotely abusive in those posts?

  • @StageManager14 - Is Lilly a dog, cat, or another type of animal?  Glad I'm not the only one so committed to my pet!!
  • @StageManager14 - That is such a cute story!!  Lilly sounds very lucky to have been found by you!

I am lucky that FI understands how important Frogalina is to me and that I'll always need a cat.  He has been incredible about bonding with her - he's allergic to cats, so it's involved medical visits for him too.  Everyone has been adapting for the past year - adults, kids, dog, cat.

We did chemotherapy for Lymphoma for our 9 year old Westie.  At Christmas time, our vet told us she had two weeks unless we started it immediately.  I spent the last semester of college driving 5 hours each Monday to get her treatments.  Dogs are not given high enough doses to suffer the same effects as people, as it is intended to prolong their life and delay the progression, not cure it like in humans.

She had 6 months of chemotherapy, and a year and a quarter of very good quality life.  The last few weeks it flared up, but she always ate her dinner, played with us, and enjoyed belly rubs.  The last day, she was very tired, and while cuddling with my family watching tv, she jumped off the couch and never got on her feet again.  6K might sound steep, but she was not an elderly dog, it was not hurting her quality of life, and we had time to really spoil her in that last year.

  • @Harry87 - so sorry to hear about your loss; it's always hard to lose a beloved pet, but even more so when you can't be there with them.  And I'm even more sorry to hear your second dog is so sick too. :(

@Alaynajuliana - A year and a quarter more time of quality life sounds well worth the time and expense - glad you were able to enjoy eachother's company that much longer.
