Help. Looking for a venue for a small wedding.

Hello. I’m looking for venue recommendations to hold my ceremony and reception for 40 people. We’d like something inexpensive and nice. I’m open to OC or LA.  I’ve been looking online for the last 2 months and can’t seem to find anything that’s pretty/romantic/intimate or that fits the budget.  I don’t like banquet halls and most venues I’ve found are perfect for weddings of 200. If you know of any restaurants or venues that fit my description I would greatly appreciate the recommendation. Thanks!

  • I know that Newland Barn in Huntington Beach is pretty low cost. You will have to find a caterer though and they are a total DIY venue.

In regards to restaurants: I would just contact some of your favorites and see what they can do and what their minimum would be.

  • I've looked at Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga, Tivoli Terrace and Tivoli Too which are both in Laguna Beach. Good luck!

</div><div>Try Electra Cruises in Newport Beach. It is much more affordable than people think.  They have a fleet of 5 yachts and ones small enough for a beautiful, intimate wedding.  Request Karen as your day-of coordinator.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

  • I had this issue as well. I toured 20-some venues in Orange County, Los Angeles, Riverside, and Temecula. Most of the venues refused to lower their minimums for food and beverage. Some of these venues were bluffing and trying to hold out on the negotiation to see if I would eventually book the venue, which is horrible behavior considering this bad economy. You should check out Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach and ask them to price everything so that you can create your own package. I've negotiated everything. I found a bridal store that was willing to take $400 off my $1,100 dress. I found a DJ that was willing to give us a $4,000 package for under $2,000. High-end and popular wedding photographers are not booked on my wedding day and they are hoping that I pick them because, although they're reputable, they can't seem to fill their calendars. Florists are starting to compete for my business and they want to meet my extravagant floral ideas because they can't seem to fill their calendars either, since most brides are figuring out that they can do the flowers themselves. Their quotes for the same flowers have ranged between $1,700 and $8,000. Coordinators listed on the high-end wedding venue referral lists are even willing to slash their prices. Once your vendors get the sense that you are meeting with others in their field, they start to give you a better package and for a lower price. Some of the vendors let their emotions get involved but if they start to give you an attitude, walk away from the deal. You deserve the best team! There are so many other great vendors out there that will give you wonderful deals and will do it with a smile because, in the end, they really need to make money and put food on the table.
