Slideshow at the reception--yay or nay?

Re: Slideshow at the reception--yay or nay?

  • I hate them at weddings. During dinner is the one chance when the music is lowered and you get to sit and talk while eating. Watching even 5 minutes of couple after couple shot is too much for me. Rather see a slideshow looping in the corner. Not a fan at all.
  • I forgot to mention family reunions and significant milestone anniversaries or birthdays. They had a slide show for FI's grandmother's 80th birthday, and they did one for my dad's aunt and uncle's 60th wedding anniversary. In both cases, people sat in front of them forever talking about remembering X, Y, Z etc...

The rest I've seen were all at memorial services and yeah, made me cry.

For this, I'd suggest a little scrap book or photo album near the card table that people can look at if they want.

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.

I guess I'm okay with them but ONLY if it's a few pics of just the couple.

Why? It was pretty shocking when the slideshow from my friend's wedding had pictures of her and her FI with all of there other superawesome friends but absolutely none with her bridesmaids (including me). I just seemed weird, and people noticed. "Oh, I didn't see you in the slideshow" blah blah. I don't know if it was an honest mistake, but people can get really weird if they aren't in it or notice if others aren't.
