This question is more for a friend than for myself. How far would you travel for a wedding shower? My friend lives about 12 hours by car from the inlaws. Her MIL has very generously offered to throw her and FI a couples shower. Her and her fiance would have to fly which would cost about $700 total. They'd also have to take a day or two off of work. The shower would be almost exclusively friends of the in laws, so nobody friend or FI know.
I really don't know. It seems so generous that they're going out of their way to have this shower, but at this same time the inconvenience is difficult for them, and none of their friends will be there. How would you handle this situation?
