July 2013 Weddings

What's left on the checklist?

FI and I are at the 45 day checkpoint (OMG!!) and I'm looking over my list of to do's and I see that they are slowly dwindling down.

What do you have left to do?

Re: What's left on the checklist?

  • Nail down the cake ( tomorrow)
    Send out some more invites
    Finalize wedding play list
And much more I am sure

  • 44 days for us!  I am feeling ok about the to do list, though the panic comes and goes.

    1.  Find/order wedding bands.  I'm going to go get fit for mine tomorrow.  I have no idea what to do about FI.  I have to figure that out.
    2.  Put together welcome bags.  Call hotels to make sure I can have welcome bags.:)
    3.  Pick up wedding dress from alterations shop this weekend.
    4.  Figure out jewelry, my old assistant was going to custom make my jewelry but I haven't heard from her in a while and I think that's not happening anymore.
    5.  Finish centerpieces/ceremony decorations.  I have everything I just have to put it together.
    6.  Finalize music.
    7.  Finalize ceremony - I need to write the ceremony out as brother in law is officiating it.
8,  Bring FI to have suit altered.
    9.  Get marriage contract.
    10.  Get officiant registered (week of).

I'm sure I'm forgetting something...hopefully seeing everyone else's list will prompt everything else.
  • We still have 65 days to go, but I think we're in good shape. We have all the major things taken care of now. We are going next week to pick out wedding bands. We still need to put together the playlists, finalize the ceremony - including music and readings, get the wedding party gifts, get his suit, get my shoes, have my fittings, finalize and print the programs, and figure out the rehearsal dinner.
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
    • Send out invitations (tomorrow)
    • Buy guestbook (giant wine bottles & metallic sharpies)

    • Apply for marriage license
    • Order tuxes
    • Order sparklers (waiting for a coupon code)
    • Make placecards (once we have rsvps)
    • FI needs to build our altar
    • Finalize seating chart, menus, & table numbers with stationer (once we have rsvps)
    • Paint table number frames (waiting until like a week before the wedding so paint doesn't scratch)

    • Finalize play list
    • Lose 10 pounds
    • 2 more dress fittings

    - Seating chart
    - Escort cards and place cards
    - Menus
    - Work on vows
    - Figure out who is going to feed our cat while we're gone...
    - FI needs to get gifts for his dudes
    - We need to figure out gifts for parents
    - Have rings cleaned/engraved
    - Put together box of all the crap to give to wedding planner for day-of
    - Order "name" hangers
    - Do all the beautifying things (mani/pedi/etc)

I think that's it. Maybe. I don't know. That's where my panic comes from, because I'm afraid I'm missing something.
The list as-is isn't THAT bad -- we certainly have enough time to complete it all. I just randomly start hyperventilating because I'm 2 weeks from Vegas (bachelorette party! WOO!) and Vegas is only 4 weeks from the wedding! OH EM GEE. lol.

Edited to add more that I thought of.

  • I have 43 days and Im just gonna... chill too. Kidding. tomorrow is gonna be FI and my wedding day.. I should make a list of what needs to be done, so he doesnt sass me about anything!
  • Ok I'm actually feeling good about our progress. What we have left is:

Buy remaining bm gifts (only need a couple more things)

Make the other half of the program fans

Make a must play/do not play list for dj

Check in with vendors to confirm timeline and details

    Buy parent gifts

Book hotel shuttle (can't do until room block cutoff date June 13)

Start writing in names on the escort cards

Make remaining vendor payments in June

    Final dress fitting June 29th

Then there's stuff I need to wait to do in nj the week before because of logistics:

    Seating chart (it's started already)

Welcome bags (this is a maybe depending on time and how many hotel guests we get)

Finish table numbers and center pieces (both are about 90% done)

Oh and FI is making a slide show for the rd but I'm leaving that up to him completely.

I'm just doing the paddle fans. I found a template for word, printed them on card stock and cut them down to the shape and taped the two sides together with double sided tape and the Popsicle stick in the middle.

  • It's scary to list out what's left to do! I don't even know if I know everything that still needs to be done!
    *Ceremony playlist for the musicians
    *Hair/Makeup Trial (June 2nd)
*Meet with florist & coordinator (May30th)
    *Welcome Bags/Baskets
    *Sparklers and matchbooks
    *Beach wedding sign
*Seating chart (once RSVP's are in)
    *Escort cards
    *Work on DJ song list
*Meet with all photographer to go over day-of stuff
    *Buy a garter
    *Finish buying bridal party gifts
*Final payments through the month of June (oh, joy!)
    *Marriage license
    *Finalize readings for the ceremony
*Buy the rest of my hubby's gift (going to do that today, probably!)

GAH!!!! I know there's more but I'm going to stop there....holy crud...
For being engaged for a year and a half, I thought I was on top of everything! What happened?!?!
  • Pick out wedding bands. Decorations. Set details with photographer. Finalize DJ details.
  • On the fan note,  I was looking for fans over the weekend for our beach ceremony, and Target in the $1 section has battery powered individual fans.  I brought one to see what I thought and if I should pursue them, and sure enough for $1 I was surprised.  If they last 30 minutes, then I am rock solid.  Check them out if you are looking for fans...

    What do they look like??
