Imperial Palace Skyline Chapel REVIEW!

Sorry this is really long.  There aren't many reviews on it yet, so I wanted to be really detailed for anyone that may need it.  It made me crazy when I was trying to decide because I couldn't find any info on it.

Skyline Chapel / Silver Sky Chapel / Imperial Palace Chapel (or whatever it's called!): A
The coordinator that I had been emailing (Veronica) was great.  She answered all my questions quickly and was very helpful.  When we got to Vegas we went to the chapel to check it out on Thursday and Veronica wasn't there.  The lady that we spoke to was nice also, but she seemed a little less organized than Veronica.  We also got to meet the Pastor that day, which was nice.

On wedding day (Saturday) everything went very well.  I paid an extra $50 to "rent" the sound system and use our own songs.  I had four songs on an iPod for the sound guy.  I think it helped that I re-named the songs to what I wanted them used for.  (ex: "Ring of Fire" was re-named "Wedding Party Walking In" and that seemed to avoid a lot of confusion)

The chapel is beautiful!  It is much smaller than any pictures on the internet make it look, which is makes it feel very intimate.  They have lighting on the walls that can be changed to 5 different colors, we chose blue.  I saw a couple people mention the ugly picture of the strip on the back wall behind where the pastor stands.  It was covered with white curtains for us, so it wasn't very noticeable.  I can see how it would look weird if it was removed, though.  It is a backlit picture so turning off the light would just make a big dark spot on the wall.  You can see it in a couple of our pictures but it doesn't bother me at all, PM me and i can send one to you.  We had 38 people, but I'm sure that the claim that it will hold 80 is accurate.  The hallway leading up to the chapel has obviously not been renovated like the chapel itself.  It's not bad, just older looking.  We did have some confusion on where everyone was supposed to wait while the previous wedding was still in there.  We were told to have everyone there at 4:45 for our 5:00 wedding but the previous wedding didn't have to be out till 4:45, which left us with about 30 people just standing around in the hallway.  Luckily, it is a very wide and long hallway so we were able to stay out of the way of the other people.  I was told by the coordinator that we met on Thursday (I wish I could remember her name) that if we started late they would charge us a fee ($200 I think?) if we started late, so I was glad that most people were able to find the place by 4:45.  We started on time and the ceremony lasted about 15 minutes.  Pastor Leslie did a great job.  I asked for a civil ceremony since we aren't religious and he had no problem doing that.

I really don't think we could have done any better on the chapel, especially for the price.  The casino itself is a different story, though.  See below.

Imperial Palace: C
In it's defense, they are under some major construction right now.  But construction doesn't mean that you can take down all your signs (or maybe there were none to start with?).  I know that most Vegas casinos are designed to be a maze to keep you in there for as long as possible, but this was getting so ridiculous it was comical.  First off, the front of the building is completely blocked off by the construction and you have to walk down a strange hallway to actually get to the casino floor from the strip.  There were concrete barricades all the way down the front of the building so we couldn't drop off the older people in front of the building.  Then there's the parking garage.  Valet was full so everyone had to self-park.  Just finding the correct parking garage was a mess.  If you drive too far and miss the tiny little sign you will end up in the Harrah's garage.  And the elevators that go to the garage spit you out on the wrong side of the casino, so you have to walk through the smoky casino maze to the other tower.  (follow signs to the Pagoda Tower)  We stopped 2 or 3 times to ask for directions and they were all very confusing.
Note: The casino smells like cigarette smoke pretty badly, but the chapel is on the 4th floor and does not smell at all.  Also, not all the elevators go to all floors.  It took us 20 minutes to find the chapel on Thursday, and then 25 to find it on Saturday.  Good thing we got there early!  Also, once you're on the 4th floor you will have to walk past the room where they do horse race betting.  It was a little odd, but everyone thought it was funny.

Hopefully once the renovation is complete it will be easier to get to the chapel.  Or at least put up some signs!

Imagine Studios: B+
They did photography (as as 2nd shooter to our photographer) and video services for us.  I think that the photographer didn't really try that hard because he knew that our photographer was there (we had to pay $150 outside vendor fee for her to come in).  I don't think they even uploaded all of the photos to their site for proofing.  It was average photography.  If you're not really picky, it will probably be ok for you.  He used a flash for everything, which I thought was kind of strange.  The lighting is so beautiful in the chapel, why would you want to wash it out with a giant flash?  If you want to see the proofs they sent PM me and I'll send you the link and password.

The video service was decent.  I didn't expect too much for $150, so I was pleasantly surprised when it had pretty good sound.  They put a microphone on my husband and it was able to pick up both of us.  The video was available 3 days later online, and they are going to send us a DVD.  The intro to the video is pretty cheesy, but I guess that's to be expected with a Vegas wedding.  If you want to see it PM me and I'll send you the link.  (I just don't want our wedding all over the interwebs forever.  Lol.)

Anyways, that's what I have for you guys right now.  I have several other reviews to do, but I figured that since everyone has been waiting for a review that I would do it first.

If anyone has any questions that I didn't answer just PM me.  :)

  • so glad that things went well for you :)
  • Congrats, thank you for the detailed review! Such a good idea to rename the songs - I love it! I am sure we will all be able to use that tip even if we are not at IP. So looking forward to reading your other reviews!!

  • Thanks so much for the reviews!! We are getting married at IP in 10 days!!!

So there was no issue with your outside photographer shooting during the ceremony?  I was told in the beginning that they couldn't shoot because the chapel's photographer would be taking pictures, but I paid the outside vendor fee just so he COULD shoot! It confused me a bit!!

I would love to see a few of your pics if you don't mind sharing!

  • The coordinator didn't tell their photographer that my photographer was coming until we got there, which caused some tension between the two.  But once I told him that MY photographer was in charge it seemed ok.  PM me your email address and I'll send you the link to my proofs.

  • Thank you everyone!

For those of you that won't be there for another couple months, I think you're going to be very pleased.  It seems like once the renovation is done and the Linq project is complete the Imperial Palace (or The Quad, if they change the name by then?) should be really nice.

  • I'll definitely make sure to let them know that my photographer is number one.  I'm paying him, and paid for him to shoot at IP, it's only right that he comes first!!  I sent you my email address, thanks so much!

  • Thanks for the reviews and congrats on getting married!

I'm getting married at the Flamingo in April and we have to use ImagineStudio as well as part of the package. They're broadcasting our video online but I was really interested in seeing an example video. Would you mind if I looked at yours?

  • I really hope the other photographer's flash doesn't affect your photographer's pictures. You'll have to let us know how that turns out.
  • Kris10bixler and @Crazybeautiful11

When I get my photos back from the photographer I'll post them.

  • quick questions!! we are using our own music as well, we were told to use a CD but the ipod would be so much easier! did they time the songs properly? and for the song you used for the ceremony, when did they start it? when it ended was it silent until they started the recessional song??

i'm freaking out about our music!!

  • Congratulations! So glad you liked the chapel. A little annoyed that they charged me $150 to use my own music and that they refused to cover the picture with the draping. Why the resistance? I just don't get it.

I'm glad it all worked out. I love the pic of you all in the chapel. Wish I would have thought of that!
  • Yes, they told me repeatedly that an iPod was better than CD.  She said that their CD player won't play mp3's and that's the default that iTunes burns CD's with.  Apparently they've had problems in the past.  I don't know if that is true or not, but I didn't want to test it so we brought an iPod.

I was confused about the song for the vows also.  I think it started when we repeating the actual vows from the minister.  Our song was about 3.5-4 minutes so it was timed out well.  It did seem a little random to me, and I think we could have done without it.

  • Thanks krisstyle12!  Your wedding was the only one I could find when I was looking.  :)  That is strange that they charged you so much for music, maybe people complained so they lowered it.  The group pic is my favorite so far, especially since my husband is holding the ring  bearer's hand.  Too cute.

  • Erin!

Congrats on the wedding and thank you SO VERY MUCH for your amazing and thorough review!  We have booked our June 29th ceremony at the Silver Sky Chapel after me researching for months and months.  I finally made a decision to go with this chapel because of the price and because they are allowing the use of my own officiant.  I would greatly appreciate seeing your photos, as well as your video if you don't mind sharing it!  I will inbox you my email address.

Thanks again for the helpful review.  :)
  • They didn't lower the price for everyone apparently because they charged me over $100 for my own music, I think $125... I asked them questions about music and timing, etc just recently and they said they'd prefer the names of songs for their staff to upload or whatever, and I can let them know parts l of the songs I prefer. So I guess I'm doing that, but I'm of course bringing a CD as a back, haha
  • FWIW, iTunes has a setting to copy the music to a CD in the proper format instead of mp3 format. It should auto-prompt and ask you that question when you start to burn a CD. If it doesn't, you can go under your CD burn settings (I forget where that is - I'm at work and don't have iTunes here) and change it.

Having an iPod is definitely easier if offered, though. I have an iPhone, not an iPod, but same thing. I have playlists set up so it's easy for them to skip ahead to every song. They're labeled "Pre-Ceremony", "Mothers and WP Walk", "Bride Walk", and "Recessional". That way, there's absolutely zero confusion about which song is played when.
