Trumpet Voluntary

I was going to walk in to Trumpet Voluntary.  Do most people normally walk out to the same song as well??

Re: Trumpet Voluntary

  • As a former ceremony musician, most people I've worked with have walked in and out to two separate songs. But honestly? I don't think anyone would notice if you used the same song twice. It's a great piece that many people associate with the excitement of a processional/recessional and weddings in general :)

  • I don't think it matters either. We didn't have any ceremony music, so coming up and down the aisle were the same. (I know that's totally different to what you're asking, but my point is that probably no one's going to think it's weird if you have the same music, or if you do different pieces)

A similar piece would be Rondeau by Jean-Joseph Mouret, if you want something similar but not the same.  Many people associate it with Masterpiece Theater since it used to be played over the opening credits; H and I are huge PBS nerds so it was our recessional!
  • I don't think it would really matter nor would anyone remember or notice.  Thinking back to the weddings I have gone to recently I could not for the life of me tell you the names of the songs the bride walked down the aisle to.  Heck, I can't really recall what I walked down the aisle to.

  • There's no rule that they can't be the same song (I personally had a ton of fun picking the music and planning the ceremony so I was glad to have lots of different choices, but that's just a personal preference).

On that note though... totally unsolicited suggestions:
    • The aforementioned Rondeau
    • Hornpipe from the Water Music (Handel)
    • La Rejouissance (Handel)

    are all good recessional music.
