Favors that are not in any way lame

Re: Favors that are not in any way lame

  • Edible is always good. We're doing a photobooth (so the photo strips are semi-favors) and I've bought approximately 30 lbs of saltwater taffy. There will be a piece of taffy under each escort card and there will be jars of taffy and little bags so people can pack some up to go.

I also once received some really lovely glass coasters as a favor. They had Japanese symbols on them for "love" and "peace" and didn't mention the wedding at all. I still have them.

Mini potted plants are always cute - I see those all over Pinterest. Oh and these are awesome:

  • We are having small bags of coffee... Kicking Horse is the brand, and it is also the name of a mountain and river near where we are getting married.  I even went over the edge of cheese and put 'The Perfect Blend' on the bags... feel free to throw up in your mouths!

Ditto Addie.  Food favors always go over well with me.  The only other one I likes was a mix CD of all the songs the couple named their tables after.  They are huge into music, played in the same band, etc.  It also helped that I like all the songs since we have the same taste in music.  Everything else got left on the table
We're doing the CD favours, and are making our own packages to put them in. We've alerted our photographer about a shot for the label, so he's going to help us with that, and we're getting the labels professionally printed on instead of those sticky label things. Food always is a hit though! For my cousin's wedding last year, his Mom (my Aunt) made homemade canned salsa. OMG, it was so good!
You may want to reconsider.  I don't know anyone that listens to CDs anymore.  Probably most importantly is the fact that it's illegal due to copyright infringement.
I think it's only illegal (in Canada, anyways) if we sell them, which we aren't doing. I had mentioned this to FH though, and I also had mentioned that most people listen to music on ipods these days. He had gotten a CD favor from a friend's wedding years ago, and loved it, and was pretty set on doing them. I'd have been happy with no favors, and putting that money elsewhere, but it's all good. They'll look really nice, and have a great mix of tunes on them!

  • As most PP have already said... something edible.

I did chocolate chip cookies. I made them myself, printed out stickers on my home printer and purchased cellophane bags (super cheap). I put two cookies to a bag. There were ZERO cookies left at the reception.

  • We weren't going to have favors at all but wanted to do a midnight snack. After contacting a bunch of food trucks with crazy minimums we decided on having a cookie bar instead. We're buying Madeleines, Petit Palmiers, Chocolate Chip & other assorted cookies from Costco as well as individual milk/chocolate milk boxes. My friend did it at her wedding in September, the set up was super cute and FI and I took them back to our hotel room and totally got our grub on. When I asked her where she got everything she even offered to let me borrow all of her jars! I'm pretty excited about it, bought some fancy glassine bags on etsy and will probably slap on stickers with some cheesy saying on it :-)
