Is anyone else getting baby fever?? As the wedding gets closer and more of my friends are getting prego I am finding myself wanting to be in their shoes. I keep reminding myself to enjoy the process of being engaged, then married, THEN baby....but it is still on my mind....anyone else feel like this?
(just as a note I am 26 and hubby to be is 30, so we are ready for a little one we just want to be married first)
Re: Baby Fever?!
My wedding is farther out from yours, and I even feel that way. I am getting anxious for it all, but we want to be married first too. The main goal really is for me to fit in my dress lol!! I'm sure it will get tougher as it gets closer.
Plus my doc says I really can't wait (health concerns) so there is a large chance that I may never have a baby if I do wait as FI wants.
So yeah, I'm almost in tears whenever I see a baby at this point!
I keep thinking: wedding first, wedding first, then I can start pushing for a family! No need to worry now, I guess.

FI and I are nowhere near ready for a baby, we can barely take care of ourselves! I'm 24 and still finishing school so financially we are not close. FI is almost 29, his brother has 2 kids and a lot of his friends have kids and he's had baby fever since before we were even engaged (a year and a half ago, when I was only 22!). I have to keep reminding him (and myself sometimes too!) that we're not ready and I want to be married at least a year before we have kids!
Well, it's going to be a year on Saturday, and neither of us has the slightest interest right now. We're really enjoying being able to spend our money however we want, and being able to do things like "Spontaneous Date Night" without having to worry about baby-sitters.
Maybe we'll change our minds in another year or 2? ~shrug~

[QUOTE]I would love to have a baby. But the responsible side of me tells me to wait atleast 2-3 years.. FI wants to have his Jeep paid off ($650 a month!) before we start adding on to our monthly/weekly bills. :/

I'm new here on this board--I stay around my local state board and my wedding month board--but want to venture out. :)
That in bold makes me wanna CRY!!! I want a Jeep next...commander or patriot. My car honda civic I LOVE it was my first car but its getting many miles on it and its small for a family car. I took out a refiance on it so I'm still paying it off. It will be paid off after the wedding!!! But we need a 2nd car. FI's car is almost twice as old as mine. So he will need something soon.
So I have baby fever really bad. My friend has 2 kids (5 & 2) already and I wish my kids would grow up with hers but my goddaughter will be most likely in school before I get an infant. My cuz just got married we are really close in age. Both her and her hubby have baby fever and we always wanted our kids to be close in age. FI and I had to push the wedding back a little longer than we wanted for many reasons. I really want to save up a lot before having a kid b/c I know how expensive they will be. On top of that I want to start my kid in a local private school at age 3. Another friend has a 9month old and so that has spiked my fever more. FI has baby fever more than I do. I told him its not going to be long for now we need to enjoy this time AND save as much as we can.
I have been engaged prior to meeting FI and I always pictured myself with a little one at this age so its quite depressing sometimes!!!
[QUOTE]Yeah, I totally get the baby fever thing...I just turned 27 and since we're looking into buying a house this time next year, I'll be at least 28 before we can even start thinking about it. It's weird because I've spent my whole adult life trying not to get pregnant and now it's odd to think that for the first time it wouldn't be the end of the world if it did happen. It doesn't help that my mom and grandmother like to remind me from time to time how early menopause (mid-30's) runs strongly in my family. At least FI is on board--the other day instead of saying "no babies!" he leaned over and asked what we would name a little girl! It was exciting and a little frightening all at the same time...

We had a "scare" just a few months ago. At the time, we both kind of reacted like "Okay, so this is what we'll need to do" instead of "OMG, OUR LIVES ARE OVER!!!!!!"
This is going to sound weird, but the fact that we reacted so "calmly" to it scared the living sh!t out of me.

[QUOTE]So if I post in this thread, does my siggy pic make the fever worse? :-D

Every time you post it makes my baby fever worse! Damn you and your adorable baby!!!!
I've got the fever, and FI wants to start TTC right away, so I've only got a few more months to wait.
[QUOTE]I'm the opposite, actually. Yes, I want kids, but I have zero desire to be pregnant or birth a child.

This. I will be 25 at our wedding next summer and ideally want to wait until I'm 30 to have a child. I do want kids, but first I want a dog. And I want to travel. And just enjoy being married. But I like playing with friends' kids if that counts :)

I do think that we could be better off financially but hey, you can always be better off right? We both have jobs, I have my Master's, we own a house and we can pay the bills with some left over at the end of the month. So I'm ready to go and get a little bun in the oven!
[QUOTE]We keep making "no babies" jokes, because I know we're not ready for them yet, but we both get kind of starry eyed talking about the future kids... I think we're deep in baby fever denial...

My FI and I are the exact same way! :)
