Five years from now

So last month there was an interesting thread about how different we are from what we expected five years ago. I want to know what you anticipate for five years from now! Relationships, career, home, little ones, whatever. Hopefully everyone will stick around to compare notes when we get there :-)

In five years I expect that I will be married, probably with one or two kids, and I will probably be a SAHM or at least have cut back on hours at work to keep up with the kidlets--hopefully I'll also be in the midst of an online doctorate program. By then we'll probably own a house on Long Island, or at least own our own apartment in NYC if I can't drag BF out of the city and into the suburbs.

Good god I sound like a wannabe stepford wife...

There isn't too much left on the do list really. I just hope to have a child one, may be two, and hopefully one will be a girl.

Ideally I would like to be in more of a management position in five years time, but we'll see. I'd like to get FI over to europe at some point too.

Otherwise I'm content to let life surprise us a bit too.

Let's see in 5 years I'll be 27 so hopefully:

1) I'll be married to BF

2) We'll be starting to think about babies!

3) BF will have his PhD and I'll be at least working on mine while teaching

4) We'll have saved enough for our dream trip to Australia and be planning to go soon. I'd also like to go to Europe.

5) ETA: I'd like to have a house but that one might be a stretch and definitely at least one dog, probably 2

In 5 years I'll be getting ready to turn 33.

I'll own a home.

I won't still be working in finance.

I'll be going to school for something that I'm interested in and passionate about.

I will have 10 more kitten babies! Ok probably not because H won't allow it but a girl can dream!

In five years I'll be 29, sooooo I'm working toward the following for that point:

-Married to BF

-Owning a home with at least 5 acres of land minimum (no city living or bustling suburban neighborhoods for us, please), preferably in MD somewhere if we don't get taxed out of here

-Working as an RN (I'll take what I can get when I graduate, but hopefully in peds, L & D, or possibly hospice), working toward my BSN, and thinking about where I want to end up ultimately as a nurse

-Hopefully a little dude on the way or already there (not within five years, but we've agreed on two in total, three if we're feeling extra-affluent at that point, lol)

-And definitely having at least a dog and a cat, if not a small herd of them

Five years from now I'll be a month over 33

does anyone else know its @rdr716's one month anniversary tomorrow?! Which means I'm exactly 27 and 1 day less than 1 month today!

In five years...
I'll be married assuming the April wedding works next year (i see no reason it wouldn't although my dress is too big on me after this recent stomach trouble...)

I'd like to be teaching math at the high school level. This will be significantly easier if I don't live in Virginia. I may be applying to a masters program with certification this fall though - have to see if money works with the wedding.

I'd like to just be thinking about kids and make the decision whether we should adopt or have a biological one first (we are currently planning on doing one of each). I vote adopt although biologically it makes more sense to go that way first. In reality, I vote adopt for all said children. I feel really strongly about adopting and have since I was little (odd as I didn't really know anyone that was adopted as a kid)

I'll probably have a new (to me) car. That's sad. I like my car

I'd like to own a house, but if we buy a house, we have to commit to living here (or there) first. And I don't want my kids going to most of the public schools around here. So it's a big choice obviously.

I want to be just as in love with my hubs as I am now

In 5 years, I'll almost be 28. I will hopefully:

1) Receive my PhD

2) H will be well in his career after graduate school

3) Own a home

4) Have baby number one

Younguns!

In five years I'll be 38. I hope to have a house, two cats, and a dog. Frankly I hope to have those by next year if the stupid housing market will cooperate. I already have an established career. Maybe we'll go on an epic trip, like to Europe or Australia, in that time.

If you all are successful in becoming homeowners before 30, I admit I'll be a bit jealous. (Don't get me wrong, I want you to be successful!) I also have to remind myself that most people don't have to save up $120k for a down payment.

Five years I'll be 35

hopefully my god damn house will be done with remodeling and we would have moved onto house #2.

I'll have kids (some how I feel the universe will punk me and I'll get twins)

enjoying life like I do now outdoors and under the sun and hopefully working at an aquarium again, FISHY!

In five years I'll be 39. That's just crazy pants! Hopefully I can check all of these off in 5 years:

-Looking forward to celebrating 5 years as a married lady
-Two kids running around
-A house in the burbs
-A completed Masters in Health Administration
-A new position within our training department

So in five years I'll be 37. Hopefully I'll be married with two kids. I'm kind of happy at my current position but it would be really nice if I got our senior position. Home-wise I would like our backyard landscaping finished, a half bathroom installed and a new roof. If any money is left over (yeah right) I'd like to purchase a condo in Mexico so when we retire we can become ex-pats.

In 5 years I will be 33. I hope to still be teaching in my district. I hope to have traveled to Alaska by then. I hope to be married and saving $$ and paying off student loans. I definitely hope that I get a new car by then too.

I'll be 32. No friggin clue where I'll be or who I will be with. Funny thing is, I'm really ok with that. I'll still be in sunny Florida, enjoying my life, and being the crazy ass that is me

@Blue & White - BF and I really want to adopt too! I've always felt really strongly about it. But I know adoption can be really expensive so funds will determine whether we go adoption or biological first.

@Amapola14 & @500days - My dad has made a lot of trips to Alaska! He was actually supposed to be up there right now for a job but the Yukon River flooded really badly and the house he usually rents is filled with water so the job is on hold. I also have some friends who do a lot of hunting and fishing up there. And BF wants to go there some day.

@bethsmiles That is so cool that your dad gets to go up there! I'm super envious and I would totally take some sort of summer job out there one of these days. It would be an adventure lol

@Amapola14 I would really hope to make it there next summer (fingers crossed). Ideally I would take a northbound cruise and find a vacation home to rent for a week (Seward, Houston..close to Denali). The cruise would hit up Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, Icy Strait, Hubbard Glacier and Vancouver. I would honestly be most excited for Icy Strait- it has the longest zipline in the world. I have really looked into it.

In 5 years I will be 28.
So I hope to:

1) Be an RN.
2) Own my own condo.
3) Not be working so much so I can enjoy my weekends. :]
4) Be living/or already have lived somewhere on my bucket, such as Chicago or Atlanta.

@500days, an Alaskan cruise would be amazing. You will have to AW pics when you get to go! Especially of the zipline, since I need to live that experience vicariously through you. I would be wayyyyy too chicken to try that myself.

@bethsmiles, oh my gosh, adoption is crazy expensive (plus, for international adoptions, aren't a lot of countries no longer allowing US citizens to adopt their children? I remember reading something about that a few months ago). I would love to adopt, but BF has gone back and forth on it, so probably we won't go there unless fertility issues come up.

ETA: @ladystig, good luck with those weekends (or at least every other) if you are going to be an RN.

What kind of nursing are you interested in? I just started an Associates program and love to geek out with other nurse hopefuls.

@Amapola14 - That was Russia, but I don't remember any other countries being a part of that. I would love to only adopt but BF wants biological children too so we'd like to do both.

@500days - Yeah my dad really likes Alaska. The only thing he hates is how expensive everything is up there because it all has to be imported. A gallon of milk is like 3 times more expensive there.

Let's see...in five years I'll have been married five years and about 30 (FI will be 34). FI/H will have his paralegal certification and hopefully be in a good career. I'll have either just graduated vet school or be close to it. And I hope we'll be looking into buying a house.

That's about all the planning I'm really good for :P

I'm officially the oldest of the NEY crew, it seems. In 5 years, I'll be 42. HopefUlly we'll have moved back to Phoenix, DH has gotten a promotion, I've advanced my career in event management, and we have a little one running around (or twins, twins would be good).

2. I will be married to FI and we will hopefully have 1 or 2 little ones.

4. We will have a house and in that house will be more than one golden retriever running around : )

@bethsmiles & @amapola14 : H and I are planning on adopting a baby/child in the next year or year and a half, depending on how fast we can get our student loans paid off. we always thought it was super expensive as well... however, I found out that my GYN helps match up independent adoptions through her clinic. she's actually adopted through her clinic this way, and the average adoption is around $3500-$4000. hers cost $6100 because she had to hire a private investigator and order DNA tests. her baby was abandoned at the hospital after birth, and she found out the mother had given a fake name, so she had to basically hunt her down in order to get parental rights.

anyway, just wanted to let you both know that it does NOT have to be crazy-expensive.

in 5 years, I will be in my early-30's. we will have at least one child. probably living in the same house. our student loans will be paid off. hopefully H will have gotten a raise (or a few!) between now and then. ideally, I'd be working part-time and going back to school, but I could live with just working part-time. besides all that, I really don't know!

In 5 years, I'll be 31. BF and I will most likely be married. He might have convinced me to have a kid. I'll be done with my Ph.D., but I have no clue what I'm going to do after that, and it weighs really heavily on me. I'd like to stay at home for a while - my mom stayed at home when I was a kid - but it feels like I'd be wasting all that education. But I'd be so much happier. We're still weighing that out.
