Wedding Woes

things and a question

i started my new job on monday. woo hoo! it's in the same office, but a better schedule and no calls. some of my coworker are bitter, and they should be. the hours we keep here really stink and it's not fair. oh well.

it's too beautiful to be at work today.

"i'm more than magic mike!"  ORLY.

i'm addicted to Dunkin Donuts caramel iced coffee.

question - what is more important to you in a hotel: location or amenities. if it is just between the two options, which would you prefer.

Re: things and a question

  • New job?  No calls?  YAY!!  What are you doing now?  Still working from home?

    Answer:  Location, location, location.
  • Location. I don't really care about hotel amenities, b/c I use my hotel for sleeping and that's usually it. I want an attentive staff, a clean room and trust in the security of the hotel.
  • I can't make a verdict between hotels on those two options only.  Oh so sorry.

BUT, if you aren't going to be in the hotel for just shower/sleep I would say location.
  • LOCATION x 4eva

  • Yay for the job!

    Location for sure.

  • Location. Although if amenities include good security, very clean, no bedbugs and no skeet/blood stains on the walls, then I might have to say amenities.

Oh yeah, not lying or overstating free continental breakfast is a big one. Continental breakfast should not be vending machine sticky buns, rainbo bread and a shoddy toaster.

  • Congrats on the new job and better conditions.

Assuming they're in the same general area (i.e. one isn't 30 minutes from where I want to be), amenities.

depends on why I"m staying there
If I'm vacationing there for a week?  amenities are huge.
If it's just a place to crash?  cheap and clean

I got a keurig for my birthday and I've been rocking the iced and regular coffees (caramel as often as possible) as a part of my balanced breakfast :)

    Yay for the new job!

Hotel depends on the length and reason for the stay.  A week with the kids I want amenities.  In and out business trip- location.

  • It depends. When we went to Spain our hotel was farther away, but we got to use the corporate lounge and eat and drink for free. That sure was nice.

Most times I would say location, but it depends on the city.

I made a batch of coffee that I put into ice cube trays and froze, so I don't over-water my iced coffee with ice.
So just brew coffee, add a handful of ice and a handful of coffee ice, add some milk...tada :)
  • I don't remember you asking so it doesn't count.:)

  • It's a trade off.  I'll stay in a bare bones motel in a great location (we did this in Chicago and saved $$$$).  But if I'm just passing through and I can drive an extra 5 miles to get free breakfast and free Wi-Fi, I'm in.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

  • Hotel - typically by brand (because of status/points, I try to stay at Marriott) and location.
