Update! Driving a friend to my own shower/girls night

Re: Update! Driving a friend to my own shower/girls night

  • UPDATE. I was complaining about spending 30 minutes on the day of my shower picking her up. Unfortunately I went to pick her up and she decided that since I wanted to go to dinner at a local place instead of a chain she didnt have the money and refused to come after all. Note that her alcohol, ride and hotel werealready paid for. I am irritated to say the least. I guess I should have refused to go after all.

Wait, she canceled on you AFTER you showed up to pick her up?

That's not a very good friend thing to do. I'm sorry you had to deal with this. I hope that you still had a great time at your party!!

  • She sounds like a jerk. This would be a friend I would drop, since she doesn't sound like a very good friend.
  • Oh yes. AFTER! Also my nice meal cost me a total of 14.99. Really not much more than a meal at Applebees or Texas Roadhouse. Oh well. I had a fabulous time anyways and she missed out! Haha.

  • Yikes, that is ridiculous. Glad you had fun though! I hope she wasn't just saying what her controlling husband told her to.
  • As others have said, you are under no obligation to provide her transportation. I would rethink the friendship based on her calling you selfish.
  • That's incredible.  You may be a better friend than I am, but that's the last time she'd be getting a call from me to hang out.
  • Yeah, if you stay friends with her, refuse to drive her anywhere after this.  Pulling that on you after you drove all that way is unacceptable.

  • I have a feeling from now on we will only hang out with mutual friends. Mutual friends who drive her. Thank you ladies for all of your advice over the last few days. I learned my lesson this time!

  • Ditto the others. Not only would I never drive her again, she'd get an earful from me.

That's BS at its finest and dropping someone like that isn't a loss.

That is total bull. Seriously if she couldn't afford $15 for a night out this girl should have at a minimum CALLED to let you know this so you wouldn't waste your time. I would strait out tell her she would NOT be getting rides from me In the future and I might try to convince my friends to do the same.
  • So much for the friendship.

If she wasn't sick, she should have honored all the arrangements you made with her.  I would not only not give her rides anymore, I wouldn't be her friend anymore after all you did to try to get her there.
