Favourite detail from my wedding (I got TONS of compliments and everyone commented on how "me" it was):
My dress was custom made to have a fly-back (like a swimsuit). It matched my tan-lines perfectly!

    Favourite details from other weddings:
Centerpieces made from old books and pages (all different)
Ceremony on an old wooden bridge

  • @Gumby68, my wedding is going to be completely GF too! (except for the beer, our GF beer is not so good and super expensive)

  • My favorite detail of our wedding was the dramatic sonnet recitation at the ceremony and the tiding stones and Irish music at the reception. Everybody else waxed poetic on the food and cake, but I didn't get enough of either to truly enjoy it, sadly. My favorite details from weddings I've been to have been: A coffee/cocoa bar complete with flavored liqueurs, syrups, and extras. An acapella octet that performed classical music during cocktail hour. A ranch fountain (like a chocolate fountain). I don't know why this amused me so much, but it really really did. A Christmas wedding that featured rides in Santa's Sleigh.
This is a fantastic idea - I too would have been totally amused.

My wedding is right around the corner (this Saturday!) so I'm looking forward to lots of things. FI is a band teacher, so we asked 4 of his students to play together as a brass quartet for our ceremony. They're all really excited, as are we to have them there. The food will be fantastic, the cake will be awesome, the venue (and weather, hopefully) will be beautiful. Mostly, though, I'm just looking forward to celebrating with all our family and friends who will be there.

What types of beer have you tried? Our favorite is Green's, but that was far too expensive to serve at the wedding, so we went with our next favorites which are New Planet, Bard's, and New Grist.
