Historic Fifth Street School

I have been looking for places to have a reception that can accommodate 150-200 people but aren't super expensive. My fiance had the idea of looking into a park and I came across Historic Fifth Street School. There aren't a lot of pictures but it looks really beautiful from what I can see. Has anyone had their reception there? Can anyone provide me with some more info. I love the picture with the arches and the beams, and I wanted to know if that is part of one of the spaces you need to rent out, or if we could just take some wedding pictures there? Also does anyone know what the courtyards look like, and if they can hold that many people. Or is there anything else I should know about this venue?

I googled it and it looks very nice! I have never even seen it but I know you were looking for more photos... I found a "rental brochure", it has the layouts on it as well.

We were going to look at the 5th Street School as well for our wedding, but I didn't like the tone of the emails with the contact person, so we booked elsewhere. I will say that it's a gorgeous building inside and out. My consultant where I'll be buying my wedding dress said she had her reception at the 5th Street School and absolutely loved it.

AMS482- Where did you book instead? My problem is that we are on a super tight budget and we live on the East coast, so we can't tour any venues or anything. In addition to our reception we also have to pay for our flights, and try and have some money for a honeymoon. We are trying to keep our reception as cheap as possible without having to get married on a gym floor someplace.

KikiMira- Thank you for all of the research ideas. It helped me get an idea of the space, and I am thinking that it might be a little too Spanish for our reception.

Does anyone have any other ideas for venues?

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but can you trim your list at all? If you can cut back on invitees, you might not have to stress as much about the budget.

I know a lot of people who get married away from home then come home and have a reception for those who couldn't make it ... maybe you could scale down the size of the destination list to cut costs?

Like I said, sorry to be a wet blanket, but it can't be easy to plan on inviting 200 people to a wedding across the country!

Remember also that for destination weddings, typically only 50-70% of people invited can go, especially from the east coast because flights/hotels aren't cheap.

All that said ... for a wedding with 150-200 people, you may need to go to a larger venue off-Strip. I know these can hold >100 (though I don't know their $$ ... might not be bad for a cocktail reception):

I recommend never assuming that will occur for a Vegas wedding. Many people you'd never expect to go will go. We had 125 guests attend and that was about 85% of what we invited.

I agree with VG we are coming from AUSTRALIA like $2000 airfare and heaps of our guests have indicated they will be coming

We've booked with Wedgewood Banquets at Stallion Mountain. We looked at 7 places! There are a lot of good places out here. (I'm a Vegas local). Look at Wellington Place. It's off the strip, but really nice!

Well as far as our guests, his family is in California and mine are in Utah, hence the Vegas idea. We don't have any family out here, so we would be the only ones flying in. I'll look into some of the other places that you guys mentioned. Thanks for the help!

Aha! Now I understand the large guest list--everybody can drive from neighboring states! That makes much more sense now.
