No children...

My fiance and I would like to somehow specify on our website that children aren't allowed so that all of our friends don't assume they can bring their kids?  We are addressing our invites specifically to Mr & Mrs.   One of my best friends is getting married in 10 days and addressed her invites the same in hopes no one would just assume kids were ok and to her surprise, she had to add 20 more people to her guest list that RSVP'd with children.

Can we just put something like "Adults only please" or is that rude and tacky???   Help!

The bolded is the correct approach.

You absolutely cannot put "no children" or "adults only" anywhere on your invitation or website.

If someone RSVPs with univited children, you call them and say something like this:

"Hi Amy, we just received your RSVP in the mail! I'm sorry for any misunderstanding, but the invitation was only for you and Steve. We're unable to accomodate Billy, Timmy, and Susie"

  • Ditto MS, as usual.

When you address the invitations only to the people who ARE invited, there is no reason to post who is NOT invited anywhere else.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Your friend didn't handle the situation appropriately. She could have contacted the invited guests and explained as itzMS stated.
  • Thank you for the help!!! I'll just stick to my original plan on how we address invites!!!
