Oh. My. Lord.

Re: Oh. My. Lord.

  • There is a shocking amount of actual me on Google when I look up my maiden name. I need to adjust my privacy settings apparently on all social websites.

When I Google my married name there is an illustrator/artist and a band called 'Kill Hannah' that had a song with my new last name. That's pretty thrilling.

  • Under my married name, I'm going to be a body builder! HOW EXCITING FOR ME!

Or I could be an acupuncturist living in Portland. Not as glamorous.

  • When I change my name, I will share names with an APRN in Utah and a Marketing Coordinator in Massachusetts. OH, AND MY FI's FIRST COUSIN. I'm a little weirded out by that, but mostly because she's a wrestler.

  • I'm the only one of me in the world that had Internet access.

And my married name will be such a clusterfuck of languages, I can't imagine someone else having it.

  • wittykitty14  Same here. only person out in internet land that shares my married name is a 17 year old internet addict.  And one other who is a PA out in Hollywood....

Considering my last name will be one of the most common in the world, I'm pretty glad that my parents didn't know how to spell my first correctly... that one letter makes a huge difference...

My maiden last name was really rare, like only 12 people in America have that last name, and I'm related to 7 of them. I was floored when I found out there was some girl in AZ who shared my first and last name ... I've actually been tempted to contact her all "Yo, name twin, whaddup?", but realized how entirely creepy that would be, so I've never done it, lol.

My married name's a little bit more common. But Google hasn't revealed anything all that remarkable about the other "me"s out there.

*I felt sorry for my husband before I met him. Take a number.*

  • I got nothing; but I giggle that my new initials are ELF-- does the fact that was really small when I was a younger and my first job was as an Elf at Christmas time for Santa?

  • I have a very Irish first name and a very Hispanic last name. I figured no one else would have that crazy combo. I was wrong. I share my name with a marriage counselor in CA.

    Yay I want to play!

I am a woman who may or may not have been beaten up by cops a few weeks ago. I am also a fitness model/personality.

But even better: There's a movie (comedy) about this girl whose family sends her to homo rehab. She has my first name. She ends up falling in love, getting in on, and running away with my last name.

I made sweet love to myself that night.

  • My current name gives me normal people *yawn*, but when I take FI's I will become an actress who I've never heard of but has apparently been in some blockbusters.  I hope the acceptable pay raise comes with this change in identity.

  • My Greek grandparents dropped the second half of their last name, which was a pretty common practice when they tried to Americanize themselves.  So, I am one of 15 people alive with my last name, and the only person with my full name.  Even though my first name is spelled differently than the common spelling, when I marry my Swiss FI with a super duper common last name, I will no longer be one of a kind.

Which is kind of why I want to give our kids really fun, yet not as crazy as "North West" type monikers.  I like Liesel, but with a common German last name that might be tough, so I thought Eleni would be a fantastic, and not as obvious, ethnic, unique-ish name.

I like Eleni a lot. I also really love the name Lisle, pronounced like Lyle, but that's almost my FI's name, so that's out of the question.

If we're going to talk about names, can we briefly discuss Kim Kardashian naming her baby North?  It would be no weirder than Gwyneth's daughter named Apple or any of the other names, except when you consider the father's last name... heh.  I told my BF and he goes "North?  The kid is named North West?  Who the fuck DOES that??!?! It's not even a cardinal direction, it's telling your brat they're already a second rate citizen- you didn't even merit an IMPORTANT direction!"  I died.
Yeah, people are freaking out, but there are way worse celebrity baby names.
Tu Morrow is pretty bad. And then there's Peaches Honeyblossom or Dweezil or Seven Sirius.

I love that movie!  I actually was listening to the song that plays when they're in the van recently and considering it for my wedding day somewhere :)
  • @dreamergirl8812 @sdg2502 we are talking about But I'm A Cheerleader, right?  Fantastic cheap movie.  I loved watching it growing up.

It's what I'm talking about, so hopefully you mentioning it as well means I'm right :)
  • My current name is the same as some fashion designer.  And when I was living in Utrecht, I came across a guy that had the same last name as me and the same first name as my FI.  So know I'm trying to convince my FI to take my name because seeing it like that just looked so right!

  • Google me and you just get random people. A couple of doctors though. Google my soon to be name and you get not much. Funny enough, no doctors, so looks like I'll be the only one come next May.

The other hand, google FI and you get a wedding dress designer in London. Had his prices been reasonable and his desgins my taste, we may have bought one just for the entertainment value.

  • I'm normally a lurker (thanks for lots of entertainment when I'm at work!) but I couldn't resist commenting on this thread. I don't even have to do a seach to think of someone with the same name as me. I have the same name (first and last) as a Spice Girl. Thankfully though its a common enough name that between her and the tons of other people with my name I'm pretty hard to trace without having additional details about me to narrow the results. And on the plus side it does make for an interesting conversation starter...
