Florists...HELP?!

Ok sooo included in my package at my venue (Radley Run Country Club) are the centerpieces for the reception.  They have 3 florists that we can choose from and I'm not sure where to start.  Do I need to visit all 3?  And also, I'd like to get all of my flowers from one place (bouquets, corsages, ceremony, etc.) to make it a one stop shop. Here are the choices:
  • Blue Moon Florist (Downingtown, PA)

  • Halladay Florist (West Chester, PA)

  • Matlack Florist (West Chester, PA)

Has anyone worked with any of these florists and have a recommendation?!

Re: Florists...HELP?!

  • I had the same sort of deal with my cake and wound up visiting 2 of the 3 that allowed for a tasting. I say if all three are willing to meet with you to do it.

As for those florists I was at a wedding where Matlack was used and I thought the flowers did not look fresh and were browned on the edges. Overall I just did not like them. Now part of that could be the amount that couple chose to spend as well. But no matter how much you spend they should look fresh.

  • I hated choosing flowers and went to a million places to find just what i was looking for...i have seen some Matlack work as well (both at a bridal show and they came reccomended from another bride friend of mine) and it was really beautiful. I am getting married in Haverford, but chose a florist in the south jersey shore area. I really liked Matlack's work and would have chosen them if I didn't end up going where I went. Hope that's helpful. I'd say visit because you really don't know what you are going to get until you talk with someone and see how they work.

  • I would g to all three.  I visited many florists when I was looking.
Also just as Jely said I was given a choice of bakers as well and did a tasting at each before deciding which one would make our cake.

  • I used to work at Blue Moon Florist. Amy (the owner) is fantastic when it comes to her customers. She's a little bit pricey, but she puts out AMAZING work! That's my recommendation!

Matlack is also highly rating throughout the area!
  • PS. Blue Moon does everything-- centerpeices, corsages, bouquets, ceremony flowers) It's a one stop shop! They are at the venue hours before to set everything up to (I've been on deliveries before with Amy). It's very professional and she works to make her customers happy.
  • I know this is well after the fact but for anyone else who stumbles across this, I just wanted to be another recommendation for Blue Moon. Ami is fantasic and they do beautiful work. They aren't the cheapest option I looked at, but they really weren't significantly higher than the pack. The whole shop is STUNNING, and everyone I spoke with was pleasant and professional.
