I went to choir camp from 6th-10th grade. It was the best week of the summer during those years and I have a ton of fond memories.

I did a girl scout day camp every year (oh the sit-upons) of elementary school and a week away in jr high. Then band camp every year in high school.

I don't even know how to describe mine but I'm bored here, so I'll try.

I wasn't allowed to go to camp. I did do summer gifted programs sometimes @ the local U that was more-or less science-day-camp (I did it in 5th and 6th grade and another awesome one in 11th? grade or so)

And I would go (with my parents--not with the youth group--wans't allowed to go w/ the youth group) to the opening and/or closing kickoff type stuff @ church camp.

The only time we did 'real' camp, it was somewhat church related my parents were 'counselors' (there weren't really counselors. It's complicated and I don't think I can explain it w/o outing me, so, if you want details, ask on FB

...and while the other kids slept in cabins and did normal camp stuff, my sisters and I had to stay in the RV instead and were required to stick together.

I didn't do the full summer thing but I went for a week here and there to GS camp. And we always had a week of day camp with GS, too.

Yeah, a week for two summers as a kid. I almost drowned the first time trying to fit in and jump in the deep end. Thanks to my friends for saving my life. Love you, girls.

CHURCH camp where I signed a pledge that "true love waits" at the ripe age of 12, and then 3 measly years later....love was a fickle b*tch. Ha.

I did weeklong day camp for GS 1st-6th grade, 2 years at weeklong horse camp, and another 2 years at weeklong overnight GS camp. It was awesome!

I did YMCA day camp one year, and I hated every minute of it. You cannot put me in a situation with a bunch of strangers and expect me to enjoy myself. So that was the end of that.

Bacon's going to an art day camp at the end of the month. "Art and Animals", where they get to interact with animals and learn to draw them. She does well with strangers, though.

I used to do 'chemistry of color' for kids her age--that was generally mostly little girls and we made our own paints and did flame tests and played with diffraction gratings...

I attended and then worked at a "sleep away" Christian camp every summer from age 11 to 19, I believe. Good times, and I made some great friends. I also attended some multi-sport day camps. This summer, I'm the program coordinator for "Smash and Splash" tennis and swimming day camps. Those are my two favourite sports, so this should be fun!

I went to YMCA day camp, and I hated every single moment of it. One of the girls I met there I ended up punching in the face many years later in high school. And one of our camp counselor there was this demonic little juvenile corrections officer named April. Her idea of fun was making us jog outside for 45 minutes when the heat index was well over 100.

I finally convinced my mom to put me in "Youth College." That was right up my alley: art, science, and air conditioning.
