Favors

What to put inside the favor? Hand out favors? or Leave on a table?

I ordered my favors which are coffee mugs with All You Need Is Love written on them with a double heart picture. (I know not everyone will be a fan of this-but my FI & I love this idea). We thought we were going to put them in boxes and wrap them up but this is going to be too costly. So we decided on put the mug in an organza bag with a ribbon. My FI thinks that we should have tea bags attached to the mug  and its a little pricey to do this. I found organza bags for a really good price (100 for $11) the tea bags would cost an extra $100. I think this is a little pricey for tea bags, no? Are there any ideas you ladies can give me to go with the mugs?

Another question was, do I hand out the favors at the end of the night or do I leave them on a table, so when the guests walk out they can pick one up? I don't want them on the table bc it will look cluttered.

If you're concerned about price, I would keep it simple with the mugs only at this point.

Nothing is worse than "cheap" tea or coffee, anyways, so no thanks.

I know you said you don't want them at the tables, but honestly the best way is just to have one at each guests' placesetting.

I think you're going to have tons of mugs left behind, but you'd have even more leftovers if you put them on a favor table or attempted to hand them out at night's end (lots of guests leave prior to last call)

Is it possible you could have the mugs do double duty as your escort cards?  You could tie a name tag to the handle of the coffee mug.  Or, you could attach cards to coffee stirrers and place one inside each mug.  Depending on where the handle sits, you could even slide a faux sleeve around the mugs with the guests name and table number.

  • Maybe a nice hot chocolate packet in each one?

I'd be a big fan of a mug full of candy (like kisses) and it would make me want to take the mug even more.

I agree with itzMS about putting them at each guest spot. If they are on a separate table they are more likely to be left behind.

It would be a crazy amount of work for you to try to hand them out at the end of the night. What if people leave early? And there is no way you are going to want to concern yourself with handing a mug to each person at the end of the night.

this is a really good idea- the escort cards. i saw that and i didn't know if this was tacky. but this way you get your favor and your table seat. maybe i can still put it in the organza bag and have an escort card attached to it?

thank you all for the advice!
  • Same idea: http://www.etsy.com/listing/92949191/100-large-hang-tag-gift-tag-vintage

We're doing mini mason jars with signature candy in them, and these tied on as escort cards.

    Just another option!

[QUOTE]Is the double heart picture of you and FI? If not, we would totally take them. If so, I think you're going to have more left over than you realize. I like the idea of hot chocolate or cider packets in them. It's cheap and easy, and honestly, there isn't that much quality difference in prepackaged cocoa.

oh Gosh no! LoL  no- no picture- just a simple double heart picture with all you need is love on it. we don't even have the wedding date put on it. i know i will have a lot of left overs-but i needed to order extra just incase some break in the process of delivery.
  • I don't believe you will have alot left over.I saw those mugs too and they are really cute! Put them on the table with their place settings. If you have any left over.I'll pay you for one and send you my address LOL. But don't worry its a great favor!

  • I think you should do them as 'placecards.'  I also like the idea of filling them with m'n'ms or hersey's kisses or something....

If you fill them with candy, I'd wrap them with tulle from the bottom (after filling) and then tie a ribbon in your wedding color (just curling ribbon is fine) around the center of the tulle, to make a top gather, so people will not be spilling candy all over (especially after drinking booze all night?) when they go to take them home.

To make them double as placecards, I'd use mini candies for the candy inside, and put the person's name on brightly colored (theme color) paper, and wrap it around the top-most candy.  I'd then get those candies you can order for a wedding (in an alternating color) so that the 'name tag' candy seems to pop against these other candies.

If that's all out of your budget, you could also fill them with shredded paper 'easter basket' grass and lay the one candy/nametag on top.
