RSVPs

RSVPs for our wedding are due two weeks from today, and I have found myself doing a whole lot more mailbox stalking than usual.

I know they'll come when they come, and if they don't, I can call, but please tell me I'm not the only one on major stalking duty.

Re: RSVPs

  • Haha thats literally the best description of me the past few weeks! We send our invites out June 15th.

The first week we got like 15 of them back. I was so happy :) However now - since then - absolutely nothing.

    Its so frustrating!!!

And its so easy to RSVP for a wedding - i mean we already got stamps all they have to do is check "yes" or "no" and throw it into the closest mailbox. I'm just not understanding what the delay is. Especially if those same guests already got the Save The Date magnets & were aware of our upcoming wedding :/

  • I couldnt have put it better myself! Both of your posts are exactly what we are going through.  Our entire wedding party hasnt even replied yet!  We are begining to think that we are going to creep out our mailman if we dont start getting more replys.  ;-)

Whats almost as bad is the fact that there are only 3 things purchaced off of our gift registry!

  • We sent out our invites a lot earlier than most people so I wouldn't be stalking my mail box a month or so before our wedding, but when we did send them out I stalked the mail like crazy lol. Most of our wedding party didn't send back their RSVP 'S but we knew they were coming.

  • I def do a lot of mailbox stalking its rather annoying actually. Some of our wedding party hasnt rsvpd yet either so its like wtf and I want them back since I gave them a stamp to return it hahah. But our rsvp date isnt until aug 9th. but so far out of the 176 invited we have about 95 or so rsvps

  • I love checking the mailbox these days!  Since we sent out our invitations in  early June, there have only been two days where we didn't receive an RSVP.  Our RSVPs are to be back by July 9 (one month from the wedding), and so far we've received 63 of 131...
  • I think we're lucky to have a pretty good response rate so far-100 out of 142 are accounted for, and the deadline isn't until July 26.  85 of those are yes's, and our only declines so far are plus-ones or kids being left at home and people who would have had to fly.  Some of the missing cards are people we know are coming (the best man, FI's mom and SF, etc.), and others are single guests with plus-ones who I assume are taking some time to figure out the date situation, so I'm not too worried about getting the cards back.  I just figure there is a rush right at the beginning, another rush at the end, and then a few stragglers that will need phone calls.  It is always exciting the days we get them though!
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one waiting on a whole bunch. We're actually starting to wonder about a few guests who are usually very on top of these things; we think some of our invitations got lost because we've had a couple people contact us saying they haven't received anything even though we sent them at the end of May. My mission tomorrow is to double check with those few people that they even received an invitation. If they're just straggling a little, that's fine. I just don't want to start calling people in a couple weeks only to find out they never received anything.

It's very exciting, though. We've only had a couple of declines so far, so I am very excited to see so many of my loved ones.

  • We sent our invites out at the end of May and the deadline is July 17th.  I expected to get most of them back right away and only have to deal with a few stragglers.  I couldn't have been more wrong! We got a decent amount back in the beginning and now it's maybe a few per week! One person never received their invitation (luckily it was one of my bridesmaids, so she knew to tell me she hadn't gotten it, as opposed to someone else who may have just assumed they weren't invited), so I got paranoid. I know a few of my friends procrastinate and forget, so last week I texted some of them to say some people never got theirs and I wanted to make sure they did.  I was hoping not only would I feel better knowing they received it, but it might act as a reminder to mail back the response. It actually worked for some of them. We're still waiting on a decent amount, but I know they'll come eventually. Otherwise, I have no problem picking up that phone the minute after I check my mail on the 17th. :-)

I definitely wouldn't worry! Some people may not even have got them yet. We only check our mail every few days.
  • It's so fun getting them back! My RSVP date is July 11, so we've gotten a bunch but like you all said- some key players haven't responded yet.... My dad?!!

  • We sent ours out in May with a July 1st deadline for our 8.3.13 date- partially because our hotel block ends today (75% are coming in from out of town) and the hotel is sold out the night of our wedding, so giving people ample time to book their rooms was important. We actually requested that everyone RSVP on-line. I was a bit nervous to do it this way, but it worked out pretty well. In all, as of July 1st, we'd heard from all but 13 out of 152. I had to have our parents make a few phone calls for those stragglers... they were mainly people who replied with "of course we're coming, we just thought you already knew". So, in short... keep stalking those mailboxes and be prepared for the people who assume you already know they're coming. :)
  • I had to chase nearly 50 of the family members we invited after the deadline.  I know people forget but there's nothing like feeling your families don't care enough to respond.

I even had a few people not respond because the claimed they were guilty they couldn't come??

  • My deadline was 6/28 and I'm missing quite a few RSVP's. If we don't get them by the end of the week, we're going to start calling people.

  • Our deadline is in five days, and we're also still missing key people. Half my family, my best friend, etc. It's to the point where we're getting two or three a day, but I'm definitely going to be calling a lot of people.

  • Our dealine isn't for 2 1/2 more weeks.  We just sent ours out 2 weeks ago (we were running late because of a printing snafu) but we already have about 20% of the RSVP's back.  I know I'll have to bug some family and the bridal party.  I gave myself an extra week or so to chase those down.

  • Our deadline was yesterday. And I still have around 30 people I haven't heard from! I'm hoping a lot more come in the mail this week, but if not I'm going to have to make some calls!

@Ashleton09 We're in the same boat.  Our deadline was Saturday and we have about 30 people that haven't responded.  We're waiting until Wednesday and then making calls since we need to know how many chair covers and centerpieces we need ASAP.
  • Our due date is officially here, and I'm only missing 19 RSVP cards. Not terrible (35 people, I think, same as y'all), but the mail hasn't come yet today. I'm hoping for a boatload of them today (ha, right), but tomorrow I will start getting in touch with people. Most of them should be easy (FI's dad can ask that side of the family, and almost everyone else is a college friend that we can get in touch with quickly), but it's still annoying.

I'm actually surprised I'm only waiting for 19 cards, though.

  • Our's isn't until the 27th and we already have 50% in.  I haven't included the for sure's even like family and the bridal party until the very last minute so we really only have to wait on about 12 more RSVP's.  My people have been really good at this!

  • I only need 11 cards now! We got 8 today. I'm so glad my number of potential phone calls went down.

  • I travel a lot for work and this past week I am out of town and have been OBSESSIVELY texting my fiancé..."any RSVPs today??" Can't wait to be back to having normal concerns and nightmares! haha
  • We are consistantly getting about 4 cards a day...RSVP date isn't for another 3 weeks though. We have recieved around 40 and need around 60 more to go. It's actually been a joke between FI and I because we have only received 2 declines out of our 220 invited so far...we want more no's lol!

@rel1988,why would you want more no's? Why didn't you just not invite some if you want some to say no anyway?

  • @Jessica41381 it's more of a joke between FI and I. Initally we wanted a 150 person wedding. FI's mom runs a golf course and has been booking weddings for years. She is an absoulte believer in the rule that 70% will come, and another 10% won't show up. I kept saying you never know who is going to show up. So while we can accomadate over 200, our budget would prefer the 150!

  • @Jessica41381 based on your siggy you have more than 70% coming! Your really just never know!

This. All of this. We are in the exact same boat. I would love it if all 188 people showed up (they aren't- we've had about 30 declines), but my mom didn't understand that we wanted 150 tops. 147 have accepted, and we're waiting on 12 people, I think. We'll still be really close to 150, but still. It's so frustrating.

  • I wish I had some of your girl's response rates.  We only have about 75 people coming so far with less than a week to go before our RSVP deadline.  We're still missing about 100 people.  I'm worried that our wedding is smaller than we wanted and we'll miss our minimum.
