Name change came through and in time for the wedding!

So happy :)
Means I can get married with my new hyphenated surname.
Now I just have to find a nice way to tell my papa.

  • I'm confused. Was this just a name change you made for yourself apart from what your married name will be?

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

I'm not changing my name to be the same as FI.

I have added my ex-future-step father's ( my mothers ex fiancé) name to my surname  (which is my dad's surname who died when I was 9mnths) he's the closest thing to a father I have ever had. Been thinking about doing it for years.
  • Very sweet  :)  It's great that you're keeping him in your life even though your mom and he are not together anymore.

    Oh, okay. That's very...different.

Hope your mom is okay with that! Could be an interesting surprise otherwise.

Wait you changed your name to your mother's ex-fiance's last name without telling him you planned to do that (obviously you don't need permission to change your name, I'm just curious)? Is he coming to your wedding? Is part of your hyphenated name your mother's last name?

  • Wait can we go back to the name change before the actual wedding?

He wanted me (asked if I wanted to) when I left home but I decided at the time it wasn't right with still being in school. He has been my father basically (though he only met me as a teenager) and I know that it will mean the world to him so finally did it. Yep he's coming to the wedding and hosting it and walking me down the aisle (with my grandmother)
My mother is on husband/fiance no. 5 and she and my dad were never married so have never had the same second name.
She will hate it. But then she hates the fact i have my dads surname
(I have a difficult relationship with her, she wasn't cut out to be a parent and was in the middle of a custody case when my dad died so she never really wanted me)
The only person I asked was my grandmother (dads mum) if she wasn't happy with it no way would I have done it.
  • Yes, that is sweet.

I had a question though. Will you not be taking your futures husbands last name then?

    Nope.
    That isn't unusual

I know it's not unusual, I didn't see that she said she wouldn't. I was just thinking that it would be interesting to see 3 hyphenated last names. Haha

Thanks, I must have skimmed over that part without internazing it.
