Observations regarding baby girl clothes

Disclaimer: yes, I know I can dress this child in boy clothes and I have no problem doing so. Except DS was born in the summer so his clothes are short sleeves, shorts, etc. and she'll be born in fall/winter.

So I've been buying clothes. Because when you have a lot of what you need- why not? Plus, the outfits are really cute. Little girl clothes are ridiculously impractical though. I've noticed a lot of onesies or outfits that are light colored. With DS I wanted dark colors because it hides stains. Also, there are winter outfits that are long sleeve dresses with the bloomers but no pants. So I'm supposed to put leggings on her, then bloomers over that? And how does that make it easy to change a diaper? DS had snaps galore. You could change a diaper in record time.

I've definitely found stuff (I'm so proud of myself  you guys- I've been buying at Ross, the horrible Kohl's, and Target and gotten a ton of stuff for super cheap) but it's not easy.

I agree.  I have some very cute dresses that don't get worn because she can't climb in them.
  • I usually put DD in tights, leggings or leg warmers and pitched the bloomers.   But do whatever you want to do...
We didn't have too much trouble with stains (we always put a bib on her) but she also didn't throw up or have poop explosions so we were lucky there.
  • I don't think we had much trouble with stains. I mean we used a bit of oxy clean spray, but as long as it was rinsed off before it dried, spray treated when needed, that got a lot out.

And it's pretty easy to change a diaper without taking the pants/tights/bloomers all the way off.

And it is baby clothes. Not your once in a lifetime interview with Anna Wintour power fashionista ensemble.

  • the #1 stain issue we had was her iron drops. no amount of stain remover gets that stuff out.
