Wedding Woes

Open Letter

Dear Person Who Is a  Butthead Co-Irker:

I'm taking my mug home now.  Whoever you are that took my mug first thing in the am AGAIN, used it and put it into the dishwasher, I hate you.  I'm going to use the office mugs now, which we are not supposed to use, but since everyone else can break the rules about what they're "supposed to use", I'm going to as well.

I also hate whoever decided to print off a 713 page document this morning.  When the printer jammed, you obviously had a temper tantrum, ripping out paper and the shield to the on/off button (b/c turning the printer on and off really helps a paper jam, stupid).  I fixed it, restarted the print and it immediately jammed again.  B/c you, Tantrum Thrower, ripped the jammed paper, the ripped piece left inside got caught and made it worse.  I spent the first 10 minutes of my morning fixing all of this and then standing there while the 565 pages of your stupid document printed to make sure it didn't jam again.

I feel like Mug Stealer and Tantrum Thrower are probably same person, since this all had to happen before anyone got here this morning.  And, I don't like you.

Sincerely,

Varuna

  • Man, you need to stage a stake-out
  • I love working from home for the fact that I don't have to put up with that type of office bullshit.

However, I love that our director will send out e-mails to the entire department if there's any food stealing or other types of nefarious office activities going on to 'remind' people that they need to not be assholes.  There's a lot of underlying shaming in her e-mails.  And said activities usually cease immediately after the e-mail is sent.
  • Our office mugs suck, they don't keep the coffee warm for very long and they're not very large.  I know my mug was being used b/c it was a nice thick and slightly taller than normal mug.

I really hope someone asks where that nice black mug they've been using went.  And I really hope it's one of the super churchy people, b/c I'm going to tell them I took my Thinking Atheist podcast mug home b/c they kept stealing it to use when it was MINE.

I'm completely overreacting and I know it; I just find it supremely irritating that someone knowingly reaches into the cabinet where the staff is required to bring the their own mugs for their coffee, like it's their own property.  It's just so damn disrespectful.

  • Also---I much prefer non-keurig coffee makers.  Because I feel like the coffee just isn't as good.  I'm a coffee snob.  So my snobbish-ness causes me to buy coffee at lunch to overcome the lack of good coffee in the morning.  OR, I could just only drink what I bring in rather than supplement w/keurig coffee?  Nah...I like to complain too much.
  • I like the cleanup factor of Keurig (though I usually end up opening it, throwing the grounds into the compost and recycling the container, so it's not like I'm really saving any clean up time).  I also like the one cup factor, b/c that's all I really drink.  I feel like Keurig is really for people who like flavored coffees more than anything.  I like just good plain coffee.  We've got a Peruvian one right now that I just love in the mornings.
  • I think thats part of it, V.  I don't want to buy my own coffee for work, so I just drink what boss lady buys (and she doesn't even drink coffee) and it's the Newman's Own super dark which is okay some times...but others...I just want some mellow goodness not (COFFEEEEEE!!!)
  • I feel like keurig is for people who enjoy mildly flavored hot (hottish, really) water.
