What is your favorite and least favorite things at weddings

Re: What is your favorite and least favorite things at weddings

  • Favorite: looking at the groom while everyone else is starring at the bride as she walks down the aisle...their face is one of complete and utter happiness.

Least Favorite:  Can I have more then one?  Garter/bouquet toss, bad food, extended cocktail hours, wedding party dances (awkward!), overly-personal speeches and dry wedding cake.

This is my favorite thing too :)  And then also dancing/drinking at the reception.  Now that I have planned a wedding, I am much more into looking at all the details since many of those things go unnoticed.

Least favorite: cash bars, and loooong ceremonies

  • Why don't people like the dollar dances? I always thought they were cute.

Because it's begging money from people who already bought you gifts.

  •  not being able to hear the vows.

That suuucccckkkksss. One of my good friends got married in May and I couldn't hear anything but the pastor because he was the only one with a microphone. Add in a bunch of shrieking children and I was very sad because I could only see she was crying but couldn't hear the emotional words they were saying :(.

  • Begging for a dollar? Dollar dances aren't mandatory for the guests. That's insulting to me that you think a dollar dance is begging for money. If you don't have a dollar you still can get a dance.

So then why not just dance with all of your guests for free? It IS rude to ask and expect your guests to open their wallets. You can say all you want that people don't have to give a dollar - the EXPECTATION is still there. Why do you want to squeeze your loved ones for money?!
  • I've never been to a wedding with a dollar dance.  At all of these weddings the bride managed to dance with guests.
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!
  • Favorite: I love watching the bride come down the aisle.  And dancing.

Least favorite: Silly games for choosing which table goes first at a buffet.  At one wedding, someone from every table had to get up and read out a mad lib that the table came up with together.  It dragged on forever.  Another time, people actually had to get up and run to the MC with the answer to a trivia question.  We were the at the table furthest from the MC.  Needless to say, we ate last.
