Re: September 21st, 2013--Last day of summer!

  • Meee! :) We're not paying much mind to the season, but I guess if anything it'd be more summery than fall. Being Florida, it will still be in the 90's I am sure, so lightweight attire will be the distinguishing factor.
  • Same date for me!! We are doing a backyard wedding at a beach house. Colors are sky blue and orange like @mrsrussell2013 :)
  • Sept 21st is our date as well! We are doing a rustic beach theme, beach ceremony, vintage reception in an old art gallery. In NJ it should still be pretty warm during the day, fingers crossed!!! Our colors are slate blue, champagnes/browns/golds/and a pop of blush pink). I never even realized that it was the last day of summer - just always love Sept on the shore, and after Labor day weekend is a big plus for the wallet! Best wishes to all you lovely ladies!
  • I just confirmed my venue yesterday. And we are also getting married that day and planning on burlap lace and turquoise as our "theme". More of a country feel then anything.
  • That's my day as well! Our ceremony will be more of a summer feel. Our colors will be charcoal and yellow :) I didn't know the moon was supposed to be full! How exciting is that?!?!

  • We're not doing any kind of theme. Our colour is purple so I guess more fall like...

  • Last day of summer, world peace day, and a full moon all on the most special day of our lives! I can't wait I'm so excited!

We will be having a "rustic elegance" theme with burlap, lace, blue accents, and mason jars, taking place at a big red barn.

  • I am! I'll have some fall themed cupcakes (pumpkin spice and hot chocolate), but otherwise we are just doing what we want. We are excited for the date, because it should be nice outside, we are having the reception in a park!
  • We are going with a nature inspired wedding. We have flowers and fabric galore. We are not going with particular colors or theme, but we are utilizing every type of flower my fiancé ever sent me while we were dating. We are commemorating his mother and father who devoted their life to wildlife rehabilitation. Everything will be centered around nature. I am incredibly blessed to have him by my side.
  • We're getting married on September 21st in the Bay City, MI area. We went for a summer feel with a wine twist. Our colors our Guava and Clover (David's Bridal Colors) and we kind of have a wine theme going on. I just want the weather to be sunny and above 60 degrees for my outdoor ceremony. My string players won't play in below 60 degree weather and all my pictures are outside. Is that too much to ask for? ;)
  • What a great thread!

I wanted September 1st but it was already booked at the venue I wanted. The next 2 weekends were Jewish high holidays (so can't get married on those dates) and the next available date was September 21! At the time I wasn't thrilled, I wanted a September wedding but not "fall".

Once finding out it was on the last day of summer I was excited again. We are having our wedding in Central MA and I am hoping the leaves WONT start to change too much! We are doing a New England Fall theme with apples, but we are doing green apples. Our color scheme is royal blue and apple green.

So summery colors with a fall theme, a perfect transition!

  • Great minds do think alike!  I chose this wedding date sometime ago and when did the research, realized it was the last day of Summer.  I liked the symbolism of change so we went with it.  I am having a very simple wedding; no bridal party, nothing crazy.  We are just having the nieces as the flower girls and that's it.  Our colors originally were tropical: Teal/Aqua, maybe either Orange or Champagne.  We are having it in Miami (where we're from) so either way, Summer or Fall, we can't really go wrong.  Congrats to all of you other ladies who share this wonderful day (all of you others too).  Love the ideas going around...
  • Thank you for that.  I love that song but never realized it said that...I think when you hear the song, you probably do but didn't register until now.  Sooo cool.  Thanks, lady.
  • Not sure if anyone's responded to your comment there but don't be afraid of color.  Your colors sound cool and unique.  We're going with blues, as it is our favorite color, and then jazz it up with the colors of my flowers... as long as it flows, you cannot go wrong.
  • I always wanted to get married in the fall, though I had originally wanted to get married around Halloween. Well, my FI said no to that idea, and we have three little boys in school, so we ended up having to plan our wedding around their school break, so that we could go on our honeymoon. Well, the school break fell on Sept 22-28, which is actually 21-29. So the boys will be in our wedding, and they get to stay with my mom for their school break, and FI and I will have some fun in Savannah!

I'm really excited that the wedding will be here soon! And the kids are excited too!
  • My wedding day is that day....We chose it because its also the day we started dating :-) My ceremony is outdoors at a State waterfall... I live in New England... We went with the fall feel because Autumn is our favorite time of year :-)
