Sealing Sand After Sand Ceremony

Does anyone have any ideas of how to seal the sand in the vase from a sand ceremony?  The officiant supplied the vase, so it wasn't a kit with something to put over the sand.  I was thinking a liquid lucite or acrylic, but don't know if it would soak into the sand and I don't want to ruin it.  Any ideas would be great!!

Do you like the vase? If so, I'd pick up a piece of clear plastic from a craft store and superglue it on.

If you don't like the vase, just quickly put some plastic wrap over the top, and transfer it to another display option later at home.

  • I am also trying to figure out how to do this, we picked our own container, it has a top that comes off to hold a candle, but I want to make sure the sand isn't moving all over the place or spilling out if it tips over.  I've heard of doing wax, but I don't know how or what it would entail.  Back to research I suppose.
  • Or celebrant recommended something they use in silk flower arrangements that they sell at craft stores.  ???  I haven't looked into it yet though.
  • If you container has a lid to it another option for easy transport is to stuff & compact cotton balls into the container so that the sand won't move around when you bring the container home from the wedding....this is what I'm planning on doing & then trying to figure out a way to "seal" it in after the wedding is done.
