First OP, its natural to feel twinges of jealousy, BUT its not natural to feel it SO SOON in a relationship.  At some point in the future you'll be where you want to be, right now just try to quash the feelings of wanting to get married at this moment.  Get to know your boyfriend, enjoy the adventures of being a couple.  Work out how you two will deal with the ups and downs.

Tia, my first reaction when I read you post towards Beth was "WTF did she just say?" which I was pretty much sure I don't like you.  But I waited and cooled a bit and now I just don't give a fuck.

@TiaTea, I really did not mean to offend you. I had never heard that joke before but I was being perfectly honest when I said I liked that you had a positive outlook. That is the downside to chatting online, things can be taken wrongly. I'm sorry if it came off the wrong way :-(

As silly as some of this thread is, I will admit I get a little jealous when I see new wedding photos up on FB or baby news, because we've been together 4 years and are planning to get married but sometimes it feels like it's taking so long to get there.  Take a deep breath and just enjoy your life.

I am not offended at all :)  I am just surprised. I think its a popular phrase . Like "it's not over till it's over" , or "let them eat cake" and others like it. It is used  often,  and the point is always the same

What the fuck do your links have anything to do with your lame argument? Life isn't a fairytale. Life isn't puppies and kittens shooting rainbows out of their asses. Your joke was lame, get over it and move on.

Glad to hear you weren't offended :-) It makes sense when I read a bit from the links you sent! I will have to remember those and pass them onto my BF :-P

Hopefully he realizes that this relationship is going to be full of unreasonable expectations and runs (quickly) before he needs a restraining order

Ok, I just read this whole tread and wow... In no particulare order my thought are:

*I do think its natural to get a twinge when see others get what you are longing for, but from what I've just read, what you're longing for is completely unrealistic.

*No relationship is a fairy tale, not dating and not marriage. Its hard fucking work, sorry, but its is. Most days its fun, and since you're working with your favorite person its worth it. Some days are easy and you laugh and smile and go on adventures. But some days are hard, some days you fight and every thing your SO does bugs you and you need to find away through that.

*Marriage doesn't make me think of a relationship as 'valid'. FSIL married her H after knowing him for 12 weeks- even at her PPD I thought, "megh, they're cute, but we'll see if they last". FI and I have been together 10 years, and we've always been "part of the family" because we're committed to each other and we make sure the other is treated as family.
