You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.

Also, for roughly what you might pay for flowers, you could do Disney Snowglobe or statues...

I've bought many on the Disneystore for $20 range...and some on e-bay and some at yardsales etc...: http://www.disneystore.com/mn/1000345/?CMP=KNC-DSPSnowglobesGoogle&s_kwcid=TC%7c12111%7cdisney%2520snow%2520globes%7c%7cS%7ce%7c23865822912

  • I LOVE DISNEY. I played Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding CD during the entire time when guests were arriving and being seated.

I had a friend who simply did a mickey and minnie theme (she loves disney), they had a disney cake topper.

There is a subtle way to do it. I agree with a lot of the pps.

I love the idea for the snow globes as centerpieces. That would be awesome!

  • FI and I are both huge Disney fans. If we could have afforded to get married in Disney world, we would have. I agree that subtlety is key here. Making the princesses classier is going to do a lot for making your wedding not feel like a kid's birthday party (like PPs said - use champagne for Belle, pale blue for Cinderella, teal for Jasmine, etc.).

I love the snow globe idea. I think I'll borrow that idea to use for the guestbook/card/escort card table :-)
  • I am delighted!

In addition to my Doctor Who, Muppet and Smurf collections, I also collect Disney Snow globes and statues that are related to Walt Disney and Steamboat Willy.... I also give them as presents a lot.

In the end, you'll either have an awesome collection of snowglobes, or really happy guests.

One of my most favorite people in the world is also a lover of snowglobes. She is now 7. But when she was younger she loved them so hard that she broke every single one she got because she couldn't keep her hands off of them. We even got her a plastic, softer one; she managed to break that too lol.

  • I walked down the aisle to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes".

Keep it subtle. If you want to do each table a different movie, have the same table cloth on every table and maybe do a different centerpiece. Maybe narrow it down - do you want Disney Princess, or do you want Cinderella? Or do you want Minnie and Mickey? It might be easier to pick Disney Princess and then go from there.

How many tables do you think you're going to have?
Definitely agree on the same table cloth idea. It would be awful to have each table cloth a different color to match the theme. lol.  For each table we were thinking Beauty and the beast, Ariel and Eric, and so on. Disney couples that are in love. I was thinking about round tables which seat 8 per table. So probably 8-10. We are in the super early stages of just tossing ideas around right now. But I didn't want to get my heart set on one way, and let it cloud my judgment before making the big decisions.
    Thanks!

bhahhaaha I have the interests of a 7 year old!!!! I love it.

I don't love all snow globes, I love Walt Disney and Steam Boat Willie Snow Globes and Statues.  I'm particular about my snow globes!

I once agreed to a date with a guy who's flickr stream showed that he had exactly the same collection of snow globes, plus one I was actively bidding on e-bay for a

  • i like the Alfred angelo  disney collection.  and the snow globes for centerpieces is such a unique idea i can picture youre wedding  looking romantic with a hint of disney.ive seen a lot of gypsy weddings with a conderella theme. some beautiful, some were too in your face costumey which made the wedding look cheap.
  • One Disney thing I have seen at weddings is the hidden Mickey. It's a good way to add a little bit of Disney without going overboard. If you do it correctly, it's tasteful yet playful (if that makes sense).
  • Honestly, I don't know if you can pull this off, and still keep it classy. It sounds like more of a theatre production than a wedding! I take it that you and your FH absolutely LOVE Disney?

  • I agree with PPs that subtlety is key with this, but these suggestions so far are great.  I definitely recommend selecting an overall color scheme to bring everything together, but I like the idea of making each table a nod to a different Disney princess/movie.

I love the centerpiece ideas, and I think you could find a flower that represents each movie.  Like the rose for Beauty and the Beast, jasmine for Aladdin, tiger lily for Peter Pan, apple blossoms for Snow White, etc.  I'm not sure how difficult it would be to find them fresh, but you could probably find fake or silk flowers easier (and definitely cheaper).
  • FI and I are incorporating our favorite past time into the wedding, but subtly is definitely the way to go.  I love all of the ideas mentioned above.  And as someone who purchased an Alfred Angelo dress and tried on a few of the Disney inspired dresses, they are perfect and beautiful!  The Cinderella ones especially would be great for your ideas.

  • I LOVE Disney snowglobes and think they would make amazing centerpieces. Beautiful surrounded by a bunch of tealights! I also second the idea of Alfred Angelo Disney dresses, otherwise I would have your BMs in the same dress in colors inspired by different princesses. I also adore the suggestion of the same dresses in the same color, which each BM carrying different flowers (roses, tiger lillies, etc).
Another idea that I'm thinking would be lovely, if you wore a fabulous ballgown in silver or pale blue to drive home your Cinderella feel, and had your BMs in white. If I had heard this idea before my wedding I may very well may have done this.

  • Reading all of these posts actually got me super excited for you and your wedding! Haha.
I absolutely love Disney, and I think there have been some awesome suggestions on how to have a Disney-related wedding without it being over the top.
I totally agree with the ideas to use BM dresses with colors inspired by the princesses, maybe even with different bouquets inspired by the princesses, the Alfred Angelo Disney collection is awesome, I loove the idea of the snowglobes for centerpieces, and I like OPs idea of each table being based on a different couple. There are so many ways to do this subtly, but beautifully. Good luck!!

FI and I are doing hidden mickeys as well for our wedding, it's been so much fun placing them into things!
  • Actually that Alice in Wonderland table looks kinda neat.

If you were having a garden party type wedding/reception, an Alice theme could go over really well while still staying classy.

I still have my reservations about a general "Disney Princess" theme though.  I've been to way too many 3-6 yr old Princess birthday parties to ever see it as an adult thing to do without it being REAALLY subtle.

  • I love an alice in wonderland tea party theme bridal shower. Now that would be fun and I would expect to go all out on the ttheme Ladies love tea parties. :)
  • That would be awesome.  I do love tea parties, even though usually booze ends up being involved.  Somebody needs to throw me an Alice tea party/ shower.  Pronto.

My understanding is that you do not want to dress in costumes :)  , but to decorate the tables to represent the characters?

What does your FI think? I know plenty of guys who have no idea who those characters are :)
I myself like fairy tales, but not Disney partucularly ( You know that the little mermaid died in the Andersen's story, don't you? ) The meaning  of the decorations might be lost for  people who read the books, rather than watched the movies.

But she lived on in the wind, didn't she? Therefore, as long as it's windy, this seems perfectly acceptable.

In the version I've always read, she's given the chance to save her own life by killing the prince. She chooses to spare him, which earns her a soul and she goes to heaven. Mermaids aren't born with a soul and normally just become foam on the sea when they die, so I guess she kind of wins.
  • I'm not a fan of theme weddings, but I have to admit the snow globe idea is really cute.  I also tried to quote/respond to the PP who said she walked down the aisle to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" but couldn't get out of the box - I think that's so sweet, it's a great song on its own.
