NER-Thanks from an old married lady

Hi all,

I am officially married and just wanted to thank everyone on this board for the great advice I got! I knew nothing about weddings when I started planning and found the E board extremely helpful. I know many of those who gave me some great advice aren't around anymore, which is a shame, but hopefully some of us can stick around to give the good advice clueless brides like myself need to hear! Although, after reading the "secret mods" thread, I definitely have my concerns.

Anyway, on a more fun note a pic! No pro pics yet, but my dad got some good shots.

Thanks everyone! Honestly, everything went absolutely perfectly. I couldn't believe it. I live in MA so was prepared for any weather, but it was mid-70s with no humidity. The ceremony started on time and was lovely. My pretty young (3 and 5) FGs were not at all intimidated and bravely walked down the aisle. My BMs looked awesome in their mismatched dresses, but, most importantly, had fun. We saved all year to pay for a band for the reception, which was DH's one request, and it ended up being totally worth it. We had about 100 people in a space that could have held 200, but the room still felt full and busy. I made a point of eating my dinner; people kept telling me I wouldn't be able to but I insisted! That said, I have never drank less at a wedding than I did at my own; it just wasn't a time priority.

We had a short receiving line with just the two of us, but we still mingled between tables as much as we could in between courses. I know a lot of brides on here worry because their FIs don't like to dance, and this is the case with us as well, but it ended up working out perfectly. Once the band got going, I danced while he was able to visit with our guests who don't like to dance either. He did join me here and there, of course. We did a non-traditional bouquet toss of cheapo fake flowers and lottery tickets, and everyone really did come out to the floor. One of our FGs caught it, of course. Our FGs were really the stars of the night overall, and I'm so glad they had fun. Their parents had a grandma on call at the local hotel room to pick them up (their choice, not mine), but they danced until 11 in good spirits. I think we'll have enough good pictures of them to make their parents a Shutterfly album as a second thank you.

For our HM we spent four days in Maine and three on Grand Manan Island off of Canada. Our luck was less good here; DH had a bad stomach bug the whole time we were on Grand Manan. Luckily, he was better by the time we had to head home (9 hours total of driving and ferry) and was able to go to work today. I just finished school and can only work part-time now, but I have an interview for a great full-time position on Wednesday so I'll be spending lots of time today getting prepared and organized.

@TheBaysideBride that's awesome! Definitely a small world! I scuba dive in Rockport all the time as well. Grand Manan was beautiful; we definitely want to go back again next year so we can fully experience it. We're nerds who are really into birding (bird watching) and it's an awesome place for that. We did get to see one lonely puffin on the ferry ride back, which was very exciting. It must have been an amazing sail! From what we saw of the crazy tides in the Bay of Fundy, I'm very impressed by anyone who navigates those waters.

IT was amazing - we met sailing, and my family has a boat in maine - we made it from rockport to grand manan in three days! just us alone on the boat for 11 days, so romantic. As we were rounding the lighthouse at the tip of the island we had several whales along side us.

That is too funny that we both honeymooned there!! Congrats on the marriage
