How to throw fake snow confetti

I'm hoping to use the eco-friendly fake snow at the end of the ceremony, when we're walking back down the aisle.  But my fiancé and I have been trying lots of different ways to throw it, but we just can't seem to get the height that I think we're going to need.  It's so light weight that it's pretty much impossible to get up in the air.  I tried blowing it too, but that would be really hard to explain to guests with simple instructions on the cone holding the snow.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this??  Thanks for any help or tips you can provide!!  My wedding is outside, if that helps the cause at all...

Re: How to throw fake snow confetti

  • Two thoughts come to mind, but neither will probably be of help to you.  Eco-friendly or not, be sure to check with your ceremony venue to make sure they are on board with your confetti plan.  If your confetti, or your vision of its impact, is going to necessitate instructions for your guests, you might want to stick with bubbles.
  • This sounds like way too much work. And as a guest, if you gave me directions on how to throw it, I would think you were crazy.
  • My fiance works in show production. Any time they want it to "snow" or have confetti fall, they use confetti blasters. They're essentially modified pipes filled with confetti, with an air-pump attached. A thin sheet of paper holds all the confetti in and the blast of air is strong enough to break it. These usually hang from a truss or somewhere up high toward the ceiling. That may not be an option for you, but it seems like the only practical way to make it snow at the end of your ceremony. A confetti blaster/cannon can be an easy DIY or purchase.
  • Fake snow can look like everyone has awful dandruff in photos, I have some godawful high school dance pictures to attest to that.
