Large vegas wedding

Hi everyone! This is my first post on the Vegas board. We are thinking of a Oct 2014 wedding and we think we'd have 60-100 people. We'd like to do a wedding all on the strip if possible. Does anyone have any experience with a group of this size? Any venue ideas? So many seem to have a maximum capacity of much less. We are considering seeing if we could just rent a ballroom and do the ceremony and reception all in the same room.

It is definitely possible to do a wedding for 100 guests on the Strip. Keep looking into all the major hotels and casinos. Off of the top of my head I know that Caesars Palace, the Flamingo, the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay have chapel/garden options for 100 people. Hope that helps! Happy planning!

Most strip hotels have meeting rooms that can accommodate that many. Since your thinking october there are lots of outdoor areas that can be customized I think definitely look at Mandalay and flamingo.

Contact your favorite casinos on the strip. A lot of them should be able to accommodate that number, especially if you are looking into a ballroom type setting. We planning on about 75 at Mirage and they have done 200+.

We are doing our ceremony at Caesar's (indoor chapel max capacity is 150+, outdoor gardens capacity around 100) and a reception at Joe's Seafood (seated reception up to 100 in their private Gigi room). We're expecting 60-75 guests. Feel free to check out my planning bio for lots of detailed info!

Additionally, I believe the Platinum hotel (just off strip) can accomodate about that many as well, and they have really great all-inclusive packages too.

Vegasgroom's website (http://www.vegasgroom.com/) has great info that might help steer you in the right direction too. A lot of people on the boards are having smaller weddings but VG's wedding was something like 125+ people so he has a lot of great insight.

What's your budget? And do you have a preference for what you're looking for as far as decor (modern, classic, etc.) or things you'd like to avoid?

We'd like to keep the budget in the $10,000 range and ideally would have a dinner and dancing reception and open bar. Not sure if this is even possible with that budget, but we could stretch to $15,000 if needed. I want relatively stress-free with as few decisions as possible. A place that allows outside photography is important to us. I could deal with Cashman or whatever for the ceremony but I'd like to choose my own photographer for the rest of the night.

Looking for modern decor... no chapels with 80's carpet

I just read a bad review for Caesar's so a bit scared of that venue.

If you want your own photographer, that limits you a lot. My photographer has a list of places that allow you to bring in your own (http://www.brilliantimagery.net/2013/04/destination-wedding-tips/), but the only true Strip hotels on her list are Quad & Bali Hai ... Quad's doesn't sound like the caliber you're looking for, and Bali Hai is a bit of a hike.

In terms of Platinum, I've been very happy with them--they're technically off-Strip but walking distance, and they've been incredible to work with--quick e-mail responses, even on the weekends.

We're renting out their pool bar/kilawat area for 70 guests and it's about $11K with 4 hours DJ + open bar. That price also includes the ceremony space + officiant as part of the package. As soon as I realized I wouldn't have to book 2 places + provide transportation in between, I was sold.

We were shopping around for a wedding around 175 and it was proving difficult on the strip. One of the venues we really liked was the Platinum Hotel and their rooftop. Great views and everything was all-inclusive. You also have an a la carte option. Unfortunately we couldn't fit our party on the roof top but if we were to having a smaller wedding, we would have booked there.

We have too many people for Platinum, but I've read nothing but good things, and they were quick to respond when I asked if the two spaces could be combined to handle more guests.

If I'd had that group size I would have probably gone with SpringHill Suites by the convention center. They also have a rooftop ceremony spot that overlooks the Wynn with a nice ballroom for the reception, offer a free shuttle to Fashion Show for guests, and the prices were much more competitive than anything we looked at on the strip.

On the strip we looked at Caeser's and Flamingo. Caeser's ballrooms had a lot more character and height, the Flamingo ones felt pretty boring to me, but catering was definitely higher cost at Caeser's. If you find your guest list at or below 80 I think the garden at either would be a nice ceremony with a dinner reception at Joe's in the Forum shops. The private dining room is great, I looked at it for our rehearsal because the food is so amazing. I think they can do 100 but recommend no more than 80 if you want a dance floor. By the same token lots of girls on here have loved Maggiano's for a reception as well.

Not sure if you can choose your own but I know Mike L is one of their photog options so nothing to worry about there; we used them for our wedding and 1st anniv.

We're having around 60 people and are at The Tropicana. We have a similar budget (we started with $10,000 and realized for even 50 people to have a ceremony and reception with food, drinks and dancing, there's no way that budget would work - for what we wanted - so we've upped it to $13,000 and seem to be falling nicely within that) and looked at a ton of places on a scouting trip. The only places that ended up working in our budget were Caesars for the wedding and Trevi or Joe's Stonecrab and Seafood for reception, or Tropicana for wedding and reception. We decided on the Trop because we can have the whole event outside and it'll cost us just a bit more than having a sit down dinner at Joe's (which felt a bit too formal for us).

There are lots of options, but with your budget and the amount of people you'll have, you'll definitely need to compromise on a few things - time of day, quality of photos, etc. Nothing major, just prioritize what's most important to you and it'll all fall together!

Also, I'm not sure where you've looked thus far, but every place we've been to that wasn't a restaurant didn't have any max capacity... so there's hope!

I'm in the same boat planning for a large wedding. Right now, approx. 175 but we might stretch the guest count to 225 or so. I've emailed a lot of hotels regarding their reception areas and from order of least to most expensive:

Caesars / Bellagio

Venetian

If you're open to looking a little beyond the strip, we're getting married at the Las Vegas Country Club at their outdoor bridge/waterfall setting. It's across the street from LVH, which has way cheaper guest rooms and is a monorail stop. We're in the 175-200 guest range, and I know they've done 250.

The Bellagio has an outdoor patio behind the pool area that can hold up to 300; that might be an option. Their catering staff were awesome when we were looking at them.

@ Annathy03 - Just found the Las Vegas Country Club today for a possible ceremony. I'm looking for an outdoor ceremony area and this seems to fit the bill and price is reasonable. Also, it's not on the strip, offering more tranquility. I'll look into the reception as well but I think I might have that on strip at one of the ballrooms. Thanks for the info!

@Vegasgroom - we saw the outdoor patio behind the pool area but it was out of our price range. It was a beauty though.
