RSVPs - how long before you call?

Our RSVP deadline was Sept. 6th (this past Friday). Just wondering how long I leave for late responses, or if I start calling the people who haven't replied right away?

Re: RSVPs - how long before you call?

  • I would give it until this coming Friday.  Some people may not have put the RSVPs out into the mail until the 5th, 6th or even the 7th.  Give the post office some time to get any stragglers to you before calling.

  • I'd give it a few more days.    Just out of curiosity, when is the big day?
  • I disagree.  Our cut off was 9/5. Our count is due 9/11...so we certainly can't wait as long as others are suggesting here.  It depends on when your final count is due.  We had 95% of RSVPs returned so it didn't leave many outstanding.  After Friday's mail arrived we began contacting people and we just got the final one determined today.

    October 5th
  • Our count is due 2 weeks before the day.
  • I would wait until Wednesday, then call.
  • If your count isn't even due until 9/21 I think you asked for your RSVPs way too early.  You could have waited another week at least.  That ship has sailed, however...
  • I feel there is conflicting information in this thread. If your counts are due 2 weeks before your wedding, then I think 4 weeks before your wedding as an RSVP date is perfectly fine. Most people are saying to wait until Wednesday (4 days past her RSVP date) to contact people due to people putting the reply card in the mail on the RSVP date. If she put her RSVP date 3 weeks instead of 4 weeks before her wedding that would only give her 3 days to contact people. I feel this is not enough time, depending on how many people you have to call.

  • We got most of our RSVPs back, there are less than 10 couples that we will have to call. At the time I sent the invitations I didn't have everything booked so I didn't know how long I could leave before I needed my final count which is why I left a little bit longer to call people.
  • I am not sure why leaving a 3 and a half 4 week window is such a big deal? But thats just me.  I was planning on doing a similar window since many guests are OOT, and I want to leave time for late senders/post office to get the RSVP's back to me.
  • My RSVP date is 4 weeks before our wedding and our counts are due 2 weeks before. That gives a few days to wait for stragglers and a few days to call and follow up with those who have not sent their RSVPs.

Hopefully nobody invited thought this is too early, I have received 1/2 back already anyways so I think it was okay.

When is your wedding date, if you don't mine me asking?

9/21 is our wedding date. Our RSVP date was 9/5 and our count is due 9/11. We began calling after the mail came on 9/6 and had all the answers by 9/8. We didn't receive any stragglers in the mail on 9/7 or 9/9 so I'm glad we got it done quickly as there was no point in us waiting.
