Why am I on google?

I am trying to understand why it is that when you type in my ex-fiancees name into google's search engine our info pops up from the knot? I did not realize that this would happen as a result of signing on simply to look at dresses! I am extremely upset and even more livid about the fact that I cannot find a way to remove it or a way to contact anyone who works for "the knot". I have even gone into the acct to try and find a way to close it and couldn't. I then changed my "fiancee's" name to someone special and put the status at "no ring yet" to see if that would help. I went back and searched his name again and it's still there. Can someone pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaase help me?

    When you give information to a public forum, or any other place on the internet, it leaves a footprint that can be traced.  If you don't want information about yourself to be searched, don't put it on the internet.

    ETA: When I Google my H's name, our wedding registry stuff from TK comes up as well.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    When I google my ex's name, I get our old wedding website (that I'd cleaned out already but apparently the url is still active).  I think it just sticks around until the host site figures out it's inactive.

    Somewhere I remember reading about the fact that the information you put on here will be able to be located in search engines and that The Knot can use it as it likes or something.  But I'm sure if you want to delete it all that either @KnotJackie or @KnotPorscha could help you.

    So a few weeks ago, my dad texted me and told me had found my registry website by googling my name + "wedding". I was like "what? I haven't registered yet, what are you talking about?"  The Knot had taken my name and my fiance's name and created a registry page with our full names and wedding date:


    I found the page that had the settings and removed my last name and his name and some of the other information. The settings page is here:


    Is that what you're talking about?

    I don't mind being on social media, but I'm the only person on the internet with my first and last name so I get kind of crazy when things like that pop up in Google. I don't even have a The Knot website I don't think. I made my own wedding website on my own server with Wordpress.

    @MsVeiga4Now The community is a public forum and will show up on google results. You can limit your visibility by updating your account info/website details by removing your last name and other details may be easily identified. I can also change your username or delete your account entirely. Please PM me if you have any questions.

    I actually deleted my original Knot account and started one with a pseudonym because I don't want people finding my wedding stuff.

    The same thing happened to me! I just typed in my first name, FIs first name and wedding, and voila.. how do I remove it?? It has our full names in there!!  This is ridiculous.
