I know CD's are getting to be old school technology, however FI and I are muscians and we are working on producing an album of our own. Would it be really cheesy to give our album out as favors? Most of our family is still in the 90's technology so CDs are great for a majority of them. Those that are beyond CDs can alway download it to the chosen software if they like what is heard.
The cost would be minimal as we already own the recording equipment and everything needed to produce the album. We wouldn't be downloading anything illegally since it will be him and I doing the cover songs.
Honest thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Re: New twist on a CD favor
My honest thought is that it is a teensy bit AW'ish and self-promoting. Personally, I wouldn't take one.
Why do you need to wait until your wedding to give your family or friends your music? If you want them to hear your songs, ask them, and send them a CD.
The album will be complete about the same time as the wedding.
Friends and family that have heard a few of the songs we've recorded have liked them and want a copy of our music which is why we are making the album in the first place.
FWIW, I would never tell a friend or family member that I hated their music because I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.
Thank you all for your honest opinions.
We know that the individuals who we shared our music with will honestly tell us their thoughts. My mother didn't know it was me singing, she thought it was someone off the radio, and she has been hearing me sing for over 30 years.
Bottom like, if guests don't want to take a CD, that's fine with us. We fed them, gave them an open bar, and entertainment.
If you have some in a basket by your cardbox (or wherever) that's fine.
I would think one at every placesetting or a CD for each guest used as a seating card type thing would be the incorrect approach.
I agree with you itzMS.
No matter what favor we decide on we would display them on a table away from the place settings. I'm not a big fan of using favors as seating cards or escort cards.
SAHoehle I will look into putting the music on the website, thanks for the great idea. Most of the guests are not as technically current as one would think in this day and age which is why we would plan on having the cd as well.
