I love it.  It's a true reflection of who you and your FI are and that, to me, is far more important than having a cookie cutter wedding just because other people might be caught off guard by something out of the box. I'm far more apt to feel emotional and romantic at something like this than yet another version of the last wedding I went to. There is nothing wrong with doing something creative so long as your guests are taken care of properly.   I 100% agree with Maggie about making sure your guests can hear by using some sort of mic or amplification system and making sure you're not too high up.

  • I say, its your wedding, you do what you want. Its about your and your FI, not everyone else. If they know you they will be happy for you no matter what the ceremony is like. You should focus on you and what makes you happy, not what is going to make your guests happy.

Terrible advice that doesn't go down well here.  If brides and grooms should always focus on what makes them happy and not their guests, they might as well fucking elope.

As soon as you involve a single other person in your wedding, their needs have to be taken into consideration-otherwise you rightly earn the title of "bridezilla" or "groomzilla."
  • Update: we're having a private ceremony on the Friday afternoon before. The only people attending will be our officiant, our parents, our siblings (we each have one brother) and our bridal party (just a MOH and BM). And of course our climbing guide. Everyone is on board with the ceremony idea and is excited for it.

    No, no, no, no.

This sounds like it will work out much better for what you want to do.  I hope you have a lovely ceremony.

    Sounds good.  Best wishes!
  • That is awesome! Thank you @emmyg65
  • I think my climbing guide has convinced me to wear a dress. The pictures will be amazing! I'm either going to buy something on the cheap end so I don't worry about ruining it or one of my good friends has offered up her dress from her first wedding.
