Weekend Plans?

I know it is only Thursday but I nosy.  What are you all up to this weekend?  Any good plans?

Poor H has to work this weekend but we are going to a BBQ on Saturday.  I'm planning on working out before that BBQ so I can eat all the food.  :)  I'm thinking H and I will go to a movie on Sunday.  Any good suggestions?  We haven't been to the movies in quite some time.

Re: Weekend Plans?

  • mmmmm, BBQ!

Friday afternoon/evening, H and I are headed to the other side of town to run some errands (go by DSW, Super-Target) and stop by my grandma's to help her move a mattress or something.  we'll catch dinner somewhere (I'm thinking Cafe7) and do our weekly grocery shop.

it's going to be cool and rainy Saturday, so I'm not sure what our plans are.  that evening we have our Spanish service, but besides that I don't have any idea!

Sunday we're taking our little cousins (8 and 5) to eat lunch after morning church.

it doesn't sound like an exciting weekend, but I'm sort of excited to have a *hopefully* quiet, lazy weekend.
  • We haven't been to the movies in a while either...I actually don't even have the slightest clue for what's out in the theaters.

Friday I'm having dinner with one of my best friends, I need to give her her bridesmaid's dress also.

Saturday FI has a tennis match and he is heading over to SC for the rest of the weekend to work on the farm. I need to desperately clean the apartment and I'm also going to break out the Fall decorations and attempt to bake bread for the first time. This will be interesting.

Sunday is church and I need to get my grocery shopping done and then once FI is back we are having dinner with his mom and Stepdad.
  • @CocobellaF - Personally, I think lazy weekends are the best.  Yours sounds delightful (other than the rain...H loves rainy weekends so he can curl up and have an excuse to be lazy but I love to be out in the sunshine).
  • @southernpeach89 - What recipe are you using for the bread?  Are you using a bread maker or just traditional methods?  I've made gluten free bread recently but that's no help to you probably.
  • @minskat30 - I saw Prisoners last weekend and really liked it. I'm going to a screening of Don Jon tonight and that has really good reviews so far and I can report back tomorrow.

I have no major plans this weekend. I'm going to switch out my warm-weather clothes with my cold-weather clothes (and cry the entire time I'm doing it). H and I need to organize our basement just in case a hurricane decides to hit again this fall (Irene and Sandy flooded our basement really badly and stuff was destroyed in both). Sunday, my Eagles play at 4 and if the game isn't on TV here then I'll go to the Eagles bar nearby to watch.

  • @minskat30 -I baking it the traditional way so I won't be using the bread maker. I've seen FI's stepdad make it and I think I can do it but I'm always nervous about whether or not it will rise properly and all that.
  • @southernpeach89 - I have an easy and tasty ciabatta recipe that I've made for loaves and rolls, if you ever want to try it!  :)  what kind of bread are you making?
  • @CocoBellaF -I love ciabatta bread!! I would love the recipe. I'm making this really cheap recipe that is just flour, yeast, salt, and water. You can add butter to it but I just want to see if I can even successfully make it first lol. It's not very creative of me but I've never done it before so I would be able to definitely see if I did something wrong.
  • @swazzle - I'll have to look up Prisoners.  I'm so out of the loop when it comes to movies. I need more winter clothes but I don't want winter to be here already so I'm avoiding going out and buying anything.

@southernpeach89 - Sometimes it takes a little while to get the hang of bread so just view this as an intro.  :)

  • @minskat30, I'm going to see Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 this weekend! It comes out tomorrow.

I'm driving down to the BF's after work tomorrow and really my plans are just relaxing and getting away from my apartment and work. Also I wish my iPhone case would ship!

  • And in other non-weekend news (but I'm excited and have to share with someone)...H just booked our trip to India at the end of the year!!!  I'm so excited to go back.  H's mom is throwing us a party for all the relatives that couldn't make the wedding this year and I'm going to rock a beautiful sari or two (I wore one for our rehearsal and it was so much fun)!  Time to get my arms and abs in tip-top shape.

  • Saturday BF and I are going to my parents' place to block 3 more afghans - 2 more Christmas throws and a baby afghan for the craft show. One of the Christmas throws is still on my needles and is 60 rows away from completion - no pressure, huh? Guess we all know what I'm doing between now and Saturday ...

Sunday is for football, as always.
  • @minskat30 - now THERE is some motivation!!  :)
  • @CocoBellaF - You got that right!  H's mom likely won't drape the sari to show the stomach but it is sort of inevitable that it will fall a bit with someone as unpracticed as me trying to keep it up (and dance)!  :)  We had about 130 people at our wedding...my guess is double that will show up for the party H's mom throws.  Eeek.
  • I don't have any big plans this weekend, other than getting together with my mom at some point. I think I'm going to ask her to come up to me so we can go out to lunch or dinner and go shopping. I reeaally want to show her the invitations I've been designing so that she sees I actually have a shot of making some money on this! I also desperately need to buy some fall clothes.

Sunday is football and preparing for BF to fall into a deep depression over the end of breaking bad.

  • Friday night, I was supposed to go to a restaurant with a friend. Apparently, they have great sangria. But I'm still really sick, so I'll probably just head home early after work. I should clean the apartment a bit; we did laundry last week on Friday and I never put the clothes away ...

Saturday, my partner is hanging out with his brother. If I'm feeling any better, I think I might hang out with my best friend from grade school. I haven't seen her very often since I sold my car two years ago :(

Sunday is VENUE VISIT part deux: Phira and Mr. Phira travel to southern-ish MA with 4 relatives to look at the finalists. WHICH WILL THEY PICK?!!!

Either Saturday night or Sunday afternoon, we'll probably have my belated birthday celebration with my future in-laws. I really lucked out with them; they're wonderful.

  • @phira, where in MA? I used to be from the Springfield area.

  • We have a busy fun weekend planned.

Friday night, Peek is coming over to give Bean his very first German lesson. I don't know who is more excited, Bean or Peek :)

Saturday afternoon, we are heading to my father's house for a birthday cookout that he is throwing for my nephew. Bean had some choice things to say about that after he was nearly ditched on his birthday for a baseball game, only to be saved by a rained out game. I'm breathing through it.

Saturday night, I'm taking el Senor and a bunch of friends out for his birthday! We're going to head over to a local brewery called Lost Rhino. They serve yummy seasonal and local food and have a bunch of amazing beers. I'll just partake in the delicious food. After that (since the brewery closes early) we'll probably head into the city for dancing and more drinks, or head back to our BFFs for some drinks and general foolishness.

Sunday, I'm going to lay on the couch, eat foods, make chili in the crock pot, and watch my beloved Skins play (and probably lose) again.

  • This weekend so far:

Friday night, get my eyebrows waxed and give myself a mani/pedi in the bride-approved shade of "anything bright pink". Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Saturday: 8AM call for hair and makeup, then going to my friend's house to get ready, 3pm head over to the venue for the ceremony (with no chairs) and reception (with cash bar and no seating arrangement). That ends at 8pm, then BF and I will probably have a fire in our firepit and I'll drink.

Sunday: BF is working OT so I'm going to decorate the house for Halloween. Then I shall sit on my ass and watch football. Oh and I have to clean the house. I'm one of those people who has to have a clean house before I leave on vacation.

  • Aww, @beanbot2002, they're playing the Raiders! This should be a win for the Skins. I'm picking them, anyway.
  • @buddysmom80 - No chairs and a cash bar?!?  *banging my head against my desk*

@beanbot2002 - Happy Birthday to el Senor!  And yeah for Bean for learning German!

  • @minskat30 yup I just found this out. Her focus of her wedding is saving money, so with seats at $1.00 each and technically she would only need about 35 seats, she didn't want to waste $35 on her guest's comfort.

Cash bar was something she was for from day one. OH WAIT, she's having one bottle of red and white wine each per table for the whole night. Each table seats 8...

  • @buddysmom80 - Wow, that is really rude.  Cash bars are actually pretty standard where I grew up and everyone from my hometown that was invited to the wedding was shocked that we were hosting the bar.  But no chairs!  For $35 fucking dollars?  Yikes.
  • @Kait, one venue is in Sharon, and the other is in East Bridgewater. I'm a little bummed that we have to travel so much (we're in Boston proper with no car), but both locations are great.

There are some pictures on the website: saphireeventgroup.com

We're deciding between the Saphire Estate and the Madera Ballroom at the Villa.

Yeah, and I still maintain that the Raiders have a weaker team.
