When do you take off your ring?

I have become so attached to my ring I rarely take it off the only time I really do is to lotion my hands or when I'm doing my hair other then that it stays on. The other night I took it off and ended up leaving it at home... I freaked! (bcuz I tend to lose things) I mean I know it wasnt going anywhere but I just felt so bad and now I'm debating if I should take it off at all. A girl I work with said she leaves it on and never takes it off for that reason. so what do you ladies do does it stay on or come off?

Re: When do you take off your ring?

  • I keep mine on all time, I know where it is at all times and I just love having it on!

  • Never take them off.
  • Sleeping, showering, lotioning, cooking with meat and most to all sports I play.  It's not even on right now, since it's the weekend and I wasn't going out.  I changed over to winter tires today and ran a bunch of electrical wire too, so I wasn't going to put them on anyway

  • Any time I shower, wash my face, put on lotion, do my hair, or go to taekwondo.
  • I have never taken mine off except 2 weeks ago when i got it cut off for our new rings. I couldnt have taken it off even if i wanted. I broke that finger and couldnt get it off!

  • Sleeping, showering, lotioning, washing dishes, cleaning. My ring is an opal surround by diamonds - opals a very soft stone so I try to be super careful with it.
  • I have my ring on when I'm out and about (at work, socially, etc) but if I'm at home I'm probably not wearing it. Working out...it depends...if I'm running right after work I'm not going to risk leaving it in my gym bag/car but if I'm lifting weights I'm not going to wear it.
  • I take it off any time I have to get it wet or it may get dirty. I like my diamond to stay sparkly, so I try not to expose it to things that may dull it's shine.
  • I take my rings off right when I get home from work.  I never wear my rings around the house and depending on what errands I run, will go without them when I head to the store.

So I wear my rings when I go to work and when I go out socially...all other times I am ringless.

  • I just have a wedding band, but it has diamonds set with prongs in a milgrain channel. I take it off when I shower, or any time my hands are getting dirty (putting on lotion, putting gel in my hair, working with meat, painting, making  bread, etc.). I also lose things easily, so I either put it in a soap dish in the bathroom or a little dish on our kitchen window sill.
  • Only when swimming, putting on lotion, or doing some heavy duty cleaning.

  • I usually put gloves on, but if we're doing heavy construction work or something, I put my engagement ring in a ring box in our safe. I don't take my wedding band off, however.

  • I take it off anytime I think I may get my hands wet or dirty. I have a solitaire and don't want anything to get inbetween the prongs. I made myself a little 2x2 frame to hang it on when I do dishes and forget it there sometimes when I go back to work after lunchtime. Worst feeling ever!

I know the feeling I left mine AGAIN today so I'm at work without it... as soon as I get home the first thing I'm doing is putting it on. this time I mean it.... it's staying on lol
  • Swimming, beaching, lifting weights, getting ready-makeup/lotion/hairspray, working in the yard, cutting onions (don't want them to stink like onion), heavy cleaning, any project-type stuff that requires paint or other chemicals.  Other than that it's on.

  • I take mine off when doing dishes, cooking, showering, swimming, and sleeping. I also can't wear my ring to work. I'm a CNA and the setting on my ring sets up too high. I can't risk causing injure to a patient, so until I get a wedding band I'm ringless at work.
  • I take mine off for cleaning, doing dishes, showering, sleeping, swimming, and cooking. Sometimes when I'm around the house I don't wear it but I always wear it when I leave home unless I am going to the beach or the pool or something.

  • I never take off my wedding band. My e-ring I take off every night before bed, per FI's request. On the weekends I don't put it back on unless I go somewhere. Some days I forget to put it on. But I always have on my wedding band so it's not like I'm out prowling on anything :-p

  • I take it off when I go to sleep, washing dishes, hiking, and boxing class. On lazy days, I don't put it on unless I'm leaving the house.
  • I take it off when doing really dirty chores (moving rusty chunks of metal or gardening), when using bleach, when applying lotion, when mixing stuff with my hands (meatloaf, kneading bread) and when rock climbing (rings are highly dangerous when rock climbing and also the rocks can scratch it).  Other than that, not much.
  • washing dishes, cooking, or showering thats about it
  • My current ring is the promise ring he gave me (long story) so I don't have a "real" ring yet.  However, my job doesn't allow me to wear jewelry at work, I work in aircraft maintenance.  It could get lost and damage equipment or it could get caught and hurt me (we were warned with some really nasty pictures) so I only get to wear it when I'm not at work.  I also take it off for showering and that's it.  I get to wear it so little as it is that when I can, I do.
  • I take mine off to shower, clean, deal with dishes, fix my hair, bathe kitties, exercise, painting, or similar. The stones are from my grandmother's ring, and I'd hate for something to happen to them. I also took it off when I was sick and hacking earlier this week, and didn't want to have to scrub it every 5 minutes.

I'll admit, there have been occasions where I've showered and forgotten to put my ring back on before bed, or I've gone out in public (gasp) without my ring because I've been straightening up around the house and realized I needed just one more thing from the grocery. But I wear my engagement ring out often enough that I have a ring line already and it doesn't bother me.

It's also sweet- if I ask FI to get my ring for me from my jewelry box, he likes to put it on my finger for me (sometimes on bended knee) just to make me smile.

  • I take mine off to shower, clean, wash dishes, sleep, bath dogs, swimming (including anything involving the beach) I'm terrified of losing it at the beach since I lost my high school class ring at a beach in Cali while there for marching band. Luckily I got it back a few months later.
I do sometimes forget to put it on in the morning, fiance gets a little upset, but I think he's used to me forgetting to put it on.

  • So far, I only take mine off when I'm putting on lotion.

I worry sometimes when I'm going horseback riding I might loose them, but, since I wear gloves when I ride, I figure, if they slip off, they'll fall into the fingers of my glove, and if my diamond comes loose, it'll rattle down in there too.

    Otherwise, always on.

I figure, if DH has to always wear his wedding band, I should do the same.  :)
  • I only take mine off when I shower or working with raw meats (I don't want to get contamination in areas that are hard to clean and end up sick).  Other than that its always on my finger.  I have a small box that I keep on table in my bedroom that I ALWAYS put it in whenever I take it off.  That way if its not on my finger, I always know where it is.  And that way I know I'm not taking it off and setting it anywhere that it could end up down a drain or something.

I have had a couple times that I've forgotten to put it back on and as soon as I notice it's not there I feel naked and awkward until I put it back on.  Last time I did that I even left work in middle of the day to go home and get it (I only live 3 miles from work).

  • My E ring is an opal, so any time I'm doing something dirty, something involving water/liquids, lotioning or sanitizing my hands, it come's off, and I frequently go to do something else and forget it.

I honestly have no clue what I'll do when I get married...the stone sets higher (although not really high at all) than my band which has set-in diamonds, and IMO looks best behind it (closer to my hand), but it'll be easier to remove if it's above the band...I don't know how/if I'll wear it after I'm married.

  • Sleep, shower, workout, cook, beach. I think i'll keep my wedding band on 24/7 but I sleep on my side with hands under my head so the stone is super uncomfortable... with the others things I just worry it'll fall off and i'll lose it.
