moving...?

This past weekend my FI and I put an offer on an condo and today we found out that the sellers accepted. YAY! We had been planning on looking to move in a year or two (we're getting married next October). We sent out the save the dates a couple weeks ago (it's a "DW" in a huge resort area where hotels book up quickly). We also have the registry set up, and for now any gifts would be sent to my parents house - we just don't have any room in the closet of an apartment we live in now.

My question is, should we send out a moving announcement to all the guests who got a STD? At least, once the progress gets rolling and we know when we'd be closing and moving into the new place? We will definitely be moved in by the time we even need to think about invitations, but a couple family members have said that they wanted our address so they'd "know where to send things"...

Re: moving...?

  • Once you have settled on your condo and officially moved in then change your address in your registries.

Also another good thing to do is send Christmas cards out to everyone you know and would like to have your new address and include a "we've moved" business size card inside of it so that they will have your new address.

Anyone who wants your new address now and asks you for it just give it to them via email or phone.

  • Change your address with the post office and be sure to follow up with the few people who have specifically asked for your address to let them know when you move.

@Maggie0829's idea of sending out the info in your holiday cards is a great idea.

Outside of that, I don't think moving announcements is necessary. If all your registries have gifts going to your parents' house, most stuff will get sent there. You can change that to your new address any time after you move in.
