Table Seating

So I am thinking of having assigned table seating and i wanted some help to figure out if others think this would work or not....
My Hall has space to hang up a board or chart to display where everyone is to sit, but i am afraid that they won't see in soon enough because it will not be by the door, so i was thinking of including a copy of the assigned table seating in with the wedding program so after the wedding everyone can just look at the paper they received upon entering and then just go down stairs to there seats.. I will hang up a board for any of the late arrivals but what does everyone else think about something like that???

Re: Table Seating

  • Assigned tables is easy.....just write out escort cards.  People will find the card with their name and table number right before entering the reception room.
  • @JoanE2012 My ceremony space is the church and they have a hall below so my guest will enter before seeing the cards,
Do you advise that i just place them out like next to the favours??? And if i did that wouldn't it get crowded and a little uneasy after a moment of everyone looking for their name and table number...

I just want things to go smooth while we are taking pictures
  • If you put the cards in alphabetical order, people will be able to find their name quickly and move towards the tables.  It may get a little backed up there, but it will clear out quickly.  I wouldn't worry about it.
  • I assume there is still a door that guests will walk through to enter the hall below? Put your chart right near the entrance?

Either that or make escort cards.

I wouldn't add it to the program. Not all guests pick up programs.
  • I'm just putting an easel with a done up chart on the guest book table by the door. That way it is there when they walk in. I'm not assigning specific seats though, just table numbers.

  •  We also had a large seating chart-frame displayed for guests. It was placed at the end of the guestbook table, where you first walked in. We still had the groomsmen seating guests though, as they arrived. We didn't have place cards, but that would also be a great idea! :)

This is what we did too. It worked well.
  • Ours were on a table as guests entered the reception, alphabetical order.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
