Table Assignment Chart and/or Escort Cards?

Is it necessary to have both a chart on display of what tables everyone sits at and escort cards or can we get away with just using the chart? The meal is buffet style and I won't do assigned seats, this isn't kindergarten!

    You don't have to assign seats.  Just providing a chart so people can find which table is theirs is fine.

    Definitely no need to do both. A chart would probably be easier. We're only going with escort cards because they are going to be boxes of chocolates for our guests to take home.

    while a chart is easier on YOU I find that as a guest I prefer a card to tell me at which table I am to sit because i can pick it up and bring it with me and find my table. i always seem to stop and chat with someone halfway to the table and forget where i'm supposed to go.

     We had a large chart on display, no cards. Although, we had groomsmen seating guests as they came in too. Everything went smoothly, and we had no seating issues. :)
