Am I behind?

I posted this in the March forums but there really isn't much activity there.  You guys are always active and humor all my questions!  Wedding is March 30th, 2014.

I keep wondering if I'm not getting things "done" on time.  I had to do some things (like the food tasting) way early because my fiance wont be back in town until the wedding so it's making me feel like I am over prepared sometimes.  Tell me if I'm late on the things I have not arranged:

1. Hair/Make-up
2. Cake
3. Invitations (just need to print these then assemble)
4. MOH and Bridesmaid dresses
5. Wedding gown alterations
6. Shoes
7. Groom, best man and groomsman tux (I know the supplier, though)
8. Hotel block of rooms

Pending:
1. Officiant (I want a military wedding, so the AF base near here is looking for a Chaplin closer to our area to perform the wedding)
2. If we do get the Chaplin, then I'd like the Honor Guard

Done/Deposits down:
1. Venue/Food selection
2. Flowers
3. DJ
4. Photographer
5. Save the Dates (got them out a little past the 6 month mark)
6. Linens (finalizing on Friday)
7. Wedding Gown

Besides the wedding web site (that I still don't think I need), what am I missing?  Am I behind?

    Gifts for VIPs
Info for DJ - playlists, etc.
    Marriage license
    transportation?

You seem pretty on schedule. The only one I might get moving on is cake and hotel block. Oh, and the ladies dresses in case they need alterations or time to budget the purchase.

    Ditto.
  • I would get the ball rolling on your hotel block, the MOH and BM dresses (holidays get busy for people and you need to give them time to be ordered/shipped and altered if needed), and your cake. The hotel block should probably already be booked. Mush! :)

Otherwise, I'd look to book your hair/make-up in the next month or so; go in for your first dress fitting in early Feb; start your invitations late early Feb so you can send them out 4-6 weeks prior; buy your shoes whenever they're on sale (black Friday/cyber Monday?); get in touch with your groom's attire supplier after the holidays.

As for other stuff that should make it to your list:

    - marriage license
    - any RD arrangements (if having)
    - accessories if any (jewelry, veil, purse..)
    - schedule final meetings with your vendors if needed
    - any decor you're DIYing
    - what you're doing with flowers after the wedding and who's taking care of it (keeping, distributing, donating)
    - day-of scheduling/logistics stuff (who's taking gifts from the reception, how are you getting from A to B, what's the order of reception events, etc.)

  • I'd also at least get a plan together for the bridesmaid dresses. It might be best and easier at this point to just have them get any dress in a color you specify. No need to match exactly or go to a bridal shop. If you do really want to go the bridal shop route, do it soon.

  • I have two in my bridal party, my sister as MOH and my future SIL.  My sister is giving me a hard time on going to look at dresses.  Lots of drama there but I hope to get that accomplished this month.

I'll add in the others you all suggested to my list.  Was planning on calling hotels this weekend, didn't realize I was late on that.

    Thank you all!
  • I would get on the room block ASAP. I had trouble finding a hotel for mine 8 months before my wedding. You never know what else may be going on that weekend. I'd also consider moving on the cake and MUA soon. In my area, MUA's book up fast and can be hard to get ahold of. Maybe your area is different, but I had a very hard time booking one. I started looking at 10 months out and didn't find one with availabiltiy who would actually respond to my questions until about the 6 month mark. Cake tastings are fun (who doesn't love free cake??) and don't take too much time. You'll have fun at a good tasting.
  • Definitely start looking for BM dresses. If they aren't in stock they can take up to 8 weeks to be delivered (and another 4 weeks for alterations). Also make sure you have your shoes by the time you go to get your dress altered. My sister (junior BM) didn't get her shoes until about a month ago so she had to wait until then to get her alterations done. My wedding is tomorrow and we just got her dress back on Monday. You don't want to still be worrying if you will have the dress back in time 4 days before your wedding.

The TK list is pretty extensive. I think you're on track. I try to tell people not to do way too much early on since your tastes might change, etc. I know mine did with planning but it didn't matter since I hadn't bought anything.
