Favors

Has anyone decided on favors yet? I know that not everyone has them, but for those who plan on having them, what are you doing?

we have. It was pretty simple for us.
Our wedding is a vintage train theme (my fiance works for the railroad and it really defines our lives).  As we are having a very small wedding we decided to use rail spikes and turn them into bottle openers.  So it's something very personal for us, but also useful too :)

  • We will be having a bonfire later in the night (outdoor wedding and reception) so I thought about making these:

But then we decided just to have a make your own s'mores bar area by the fire instead, so we won't be giving out any favors.

  • Railroad tie bottle openers---- that is awesome!!!!
Love the s'mores idea as well!

We haven't really thought about favors yet, possibly a candy bar or mints
  • I love all of these ideas! I really want to do something that can be eaten lol... I am still looking though!
  • I love the railroad bottle openers and the s'mores would be perfect! I'm still on the fence on if we should do them or not. Theres nothing really personal or special that we could do, and I would hate to assemble 150 boxes and fill them with candy to see that they got left behind.
  • I wasn't going to do favors, but then my aunt said she wanted to go like Hershy kisses in tulle so I said sure why not. And then I bought tulle for another wedding project and have a TON left over. So she and I will do them, I just need to buy Hershy Kisses (just in the plain silver wrapper) and navy ribbon.

I'm not too big on favors, so we planned on having a giant dessert bar and providing our guests with stamped paper bags to take some sweets home.  We're having about 30 different types of cookies, 6 types of pies, and 17 dozen cupcakes. SUGAR BUZZ!

Some of the quotes on our bags include: "We go together perfectly like peanut butter and jelly / sugar and spice," "Love begins with a smile and grows with a kiss," "happily ever after," and "R" for our last name

  • We are getting married at a winery so we are giving personalized stemless wine glasses...
  • I'm planning on buying mini succulents in little pails and using them both as placecards and favors.
  • I am planning on giving caramel apples to fit in with the fall theme! They are my favorite :)

  • I am planning on making truffle chocolate boxes- its a family tradition!
  • We're both coffee addicts lol so I was thinking of giving little bags of coffee with some cheesy saying like "Bridesname & Groomsname: The perfect blend"... because why not? :)

cheesy, yes...but also a bit adorable.
  • We were thinking about doing mini caramel apples too I'm not sure how much they cost
  • I am growing rosemary plants in mini terra cotta pots and using them as favor and place card holders. They will have a note on the back of the place card that says "grown in love... From our garden to yours". We are having a tuscan theme.

  • @kerigirl9 I love that idea! I wish I had a green thumb.

I think we might to do mini liquor bottles of either honey jack and Malibu and adding a little tag that says "Thank you for kicking off our lifelong party!" Many of our guests both old and young like to drink, so I believe many of them will get taken. Also we will have non-alcoholic options for the few (less than 10 people) who are underage. What do you girls think?

Other than that I am at a loss. I don't want to buy something that will be left behind. I rather put that money towards something that my guests will enjoy (i.e. upgrading desert or the food choices).
  • I will be having a pretty extreme candy buffet, so I decided I will be getting glass jars (from the dollar store) and doing something fancy with them, and then having the guests fill those for the candy bar instead of putting out little bags. This way they can all take more candy than they would with a small bag, and also have a fancy little jar to take home. I'm either going to hand paint them, or order some type of personalized sticker.
  • We are having a photobooth.  Guests will get a copy of the photos they take and so will we :-)

"Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends time and space."

  • We also booked a Photo Booth for our wedding, which I am really excited about! They will get a copy of their photos, that will have our names and date on them. However, we are also doing the 'traditional' favors at every seat, as well. My fiance's parents call us M&M (for Mike and Mary), so we are going to get customized M&Ms and place them in small glass jars, with our wedding color's ribbon around it, with a customized sticker on the jar. Hopefully will look really nice!
  • Our wedding is going to be very tiny (just immediate family), so I am just thinking about getting our parents a gift, but I'm not sure what of yet.
  • We're going to do hot chocolate kits in mason/canning jars. I found canning jars for less than $1 jar and then the hot chocolate/mini marshmellows shouldn't cost too much more. If it's in the budget I'll attach a mini bottle of baileys to favors for adults. We're also doing welcome bags for hotel guests with local treats (local pretzel company, local candy company, etc....)
  • We're planning on getting heart-shaped sugar cookies from a local bakery. We'll seal them ourselves into gift bags with fancy ribbon then attach little cards with their names and table numbers. Escort cards and favors in one.

That's our easy plan. I'm still playing with the idea of taffy apples. I'd love to use those instead but think they might be out of our budget. We're going to stalk to Affy Tapple store closer to our date so we can see what might be in our budget.

  • We are doing the same at our wedding!
  • We are doing mini bottles of wine
  • we decided on mini bottles of rosemary olive oil
  • Our after party is actually a camp out including bonfire and s'mores! Glad to hear I'm not the only one loving that idea!
  • We're planning a bonfire at our outdoor reception too! The s'mores will be awesome, and we're hoping to make it a bit of a jam session/sing-along since FI and many of our friends play music.
  • Our wedding is going to be TINY and a destination Disney wedding (immediate family only).

I'm hoping to do welcome bags and then I want to do these ornaments with our names and wedding date on the back:

  • I was thinking about doing koozies... because everyone likes to keep their drink cold, right? They'd say "To have and to hold and to keep your drink cold." What do you guys think?
