Talk about depressing. Yes, it's about cancer, and we knew that going in, but we thought that with Seth Rogen, it would even things out a bit. It was funny in some places, but not enough.
Joseph Gordan Levitt finds out he has a very rare form of cancer. He has a mom who smothers him, so he doesn't answer her calls and his dad has Alzheimers and doesn't remember him. His girlfriend swears she's going to take care of him but starts flaking on things and we find out she's cheating on him so he gets rid of her. His BFF (Seth Rogen) uses his cancer as a way to get them laid, but JGL figures out sex is too painful, so that's out. His chemo buddy dies. Then he finds out his cancer didn't respond to the chemo and all that's left is a life threatening spinal surgery.
The surgery did work and he predictably ends up with his therapist (Anna Kendrick) so it does end happily.
Side note - thank goodness JGL doesn't rock the bald look IRL.
