Only when I lift weights. I probably should take it off more often. it gets caught in my (crazy) hair occasionally. Once I spray painted some picture frames and got some black spray on it. Thankfully my jeweler will clean it anytime I want but it's white gold and I've had it since June or July (got engaged in April but my properly sized ring had to be special ordered and came in later) and it's lost quite a bit of shine in my opinion. the diamonds are still brilliant but the gold isn't as it was. I'm terribly afraid to lose it as I lose everything regardless of importance.
My partner proposed with my grandma's ring and I was terrified about losing it. I asked my mom if I could wear it everyday and she said my grandmother did for years. Don't take it off to wash hands or dishes cause that is when you lose it. My grandma was master gardener so this ring was always "busy." Mom told me to size it properly, get it checked for loose stones regularly and then buy insurance and wear it , wear it, wear it. And I am doing just that. It's gorgeous!
I work in a hospital and the only time I remove mine is when it is with the jeweler and when I am painting (I had a bad experience once, I got dye stuck under one of my diamonds, which luckily the jeweler could get off). Your ring should fit well enough that you don't have to fear it falling off, and I truly believe you should never take it off.
I was reading this thing on Ten things you should never do while wearing your E ring... and it said not to sleep in it... I tried not to but I dont know what it was. it felt like a part of my soul was missing and I put it back on lol

I've heard the sheets are particularly bad for the prongs, but I'm not sure if that's true. I can't sleep with mine as it has a higher setting and I sleep with my cheek on my hand and it was digging in pretty fierce.

lol well yes I could understand you taking it off.... can you imagine sleeping with it on and you wake up on ur wedding day with a big red indentation on your face.... that would suck something serious!!!!!!!!!
I have yet to take mine off for any length of time - I feel very lost without it! Other than putting on lotion, it stays on my finger. Mine is an heirloom from his mother who passed a couple of years ago and she never took it off, why should I? It's thankfully insured and well documented and his father told me to "wear the hell out of it." So that's what we plan to do in good faith and health!
I could have sworn that I answered this but maybe it was another ring wearing question. Anyway, I only wear it when I leave the house. Truthfully, I have very sensitive skin and it gets irritated easily whenever I wear any kind of jewelry long term. I have to figure out what to do with the wedding ring.

awww that's got to suck hopefully you can figure out something
I always take mine off to shower, when applying lotion or sunscreen, when exercising (doing jujitsu, boxing, swimming, or doing a heavy duty work out with weights), and when I do my nails, hair or makeup. I try to remember to take all my rings with stones off, not just my engagement ring, when I cook, do dishes, sleeping, or put on things like pantyhose (they snag them). I put any rings I've taken off safely in my jewelry box or on my ring stand. I still feel better with my rings on vs off (security of knowing where it is at any moment)
This is why I'm seriously considering a plain wedding band when the big day arrives so that I can wear it for most of those events (except exercise...trust me, a broken finger is no joy but it's worse when you have a ring trapped on it) without fear of damage to the prongs or stones.
I take it off just when I'm going to bed. He actually doesn't want me wearing it to sleep. I freak if I don't feel it on my finger or when I wake up in the morning. He freaks everytime my hand bangs into something. He's protecting it more than I am sometimes, lol. But I love it. I would keep it on all the time but to make him happy I do put it in my jewelry box at night.
I'm not in the norm evidently. I work as a nurse and refuse to wear rings based on studies of how contaminated they can be thus it's very dangerous for patients.
I also don't wear it when I clean, cook, shower, work around the house, sleep, work out. It's off more than it's on. It's insured. If something happens, I'll replace it. My parents have been married for 31 years and have never worn rings. I think we'll be okay.
I pretty much only wear mine when I leave the house. When I'm home, I just leave it in its box so I don't have to worry about misplacing it when I do dishes/clean/shower etc.
Mine only comes off when it could get dirty or damaged. So any time I'm cleaning, doing dishes, lotion/skin care, and any heavy duty work(gardening, painting, & construction). Other than that it never leaves my hand. I like it too much.
Only for washing my hair because it gets cause in the ring prongs. Other than that it's always on my finger. Used to take it off for washing dishes and such, but I realized I would rather not risk losing it.
I only take my rings off when I put on lotion or if I'm going to do something that might damage them. I, too, have my little panic attacks if I took them off to lotion up and forgot I did that!
I take mine off to shower, put lotion on, wash dishes, and before bed, glad I'm not the only one!
I recently went to our jeweller's to order our wedding bands, and they actually told me it is good to keep it on when you wash dishes. The dish soap actually cleans it. This still seems weird to me though - I am so protective of it!
I work as an artist so honestly I take my ring off a lot, especially if I'm working with clay. But if it's not on my finger I wear it on a necklace so I don't lose it and I can keep it close.
I only take my ring off if i'm going to be working with harsh chemicals. I used to take it off to shower but find that I can't remember to put it back on, then I fidget with my finger all day because "something" feels weird, so I just keep it on. Getting it dirty doesn't concern me because my service plan includes all the cleaning I want. When we picked up my wedding band, I had my engagement ring cleaned and adjusted so that it looked like it goes with the band. I will have it cleaned again right before the wedding for the same reason. While the store has my ring for cleaning and repairs i wear a place holder ring to keep my finger happy!
why does everyone take it off in the shower? I never take mine off except for when I'm making meatballs! Tiffany's said that a platinum setting will not weaken, but they check and polish it for free as often as you want, so I have more faith that my ring will last than me losing it by taking it off!
I take mine off when I sleep, do dishes, workout, or play volleyball. When I workout my fingers kinda swell and then it's hard to get it off to shower!
