Your opinion on Candy Bars/Buffets

Re: Your opinion on Candy Bars/Buffets

  • I've never been to one but I think it would be awesome!
  • I like them when it's adult dessert food, but whenever I've seen these, it's always crappy candy to match wedding colors. I never partake when that's the case because the candy is usually gross. This makes it kind of a waste of money.

A different option, we had a truffle bar at our wedding. We hired a chocolatier to make truffles and served it sort of in the same style of candy bar - except more adult geared. It was phenomenal and people still bring up to us how awesome it was. It was money well spent.
    I love this idea!!!

    Candy buffet FTW! love 'em
ETA but ONLY the individually wrapped candies, I hate the loose candy with scoops. I want taste over color coordination.

We had a candy bar and it was color coordinated. There was 35 lbs of candy for about $200, and it was all taken (so if this was "crappy" candy to match the color theme, no one seemed to mind.)

It was gummy bears, vanilla tootsie rolls, taffy, two different kinds of swirl lollipops, jordan almonds, mints, ribbon candy, blue raspberry gumdrops, large twist marshmallows and some others that I don't remember (it's not all seen in the image.)

It did all go (very, very little was leftover - I was very surprised.) It was not our only favor - we also had a photo booth, cigars, and a take home favor that was a bird seed patty to put out for birds.

For us, it was a fun addition. It appeared that people liked it as well. We also had 12 or so children in attendance, and they also really liked it. For me, the cost was worth it.

ETA: We had  approx. 200 guests, and the candy was purchased from CandyWarehouse.com. Two of my bridesmaids loaned me their jars, along with some that I had. I painted a $1 chalkboard from the local craft store as the sign. Not a single piece of candy was stale.

  • I don't like candy bars at weddings at all.  Cute at sweet sixteen parties though.
  • I'm doing one for our wedding in February.  Originally, I was looking at color coordinating candy, but I decided instead to go with brand name stuff.  We actually let each member of our bridal party pick their favorite candy and those are the types of candy that we will be having in our candy bar.
