Re: Question about Vista Suite

Hey Everyone, great read and info. We are having our in room reception in the vista suite and was planning on bringing in outside catering(Jason's deli) and some alcohol we are purchasing... But are being told there is no way that its allowed, and if. Alcohol is found in the suite we will be charged either a 25% corking fee or Mandalay bay prices plus 20% gratuity. How have all of you gotten around this? We are on a budget saving for a house, so don't have the money to pay their prices for any of it. Thanks, Jamie
Only two things I've ever heard of being an issue in a Vista:

    1) One night reservations magically disappearing at check-in and a lesser suite offered in its place.

    2) Noise complaints that have resulted in, ultimately, people being asked to vacate the suite.

Never heard of anyone getting charged for anything regardless of whether they were busted having a reception by the noise.

  • it is sort of a don't ask, don't tell policy from what I've heard...

  • Ok great, thank you everyone. I read the same thing vegasgroom. We actually have the night paid for and the adjoining suite rented and paid for. So unless they throw the whole"the room is wrecked from last night"(which we will hear) then we will be good. I would like to hear how your nights go as we'll, with any suggestions, or "something we might have changed if we could do it again" kind of thing. Cheers! Jamie
  • Jamcross, We just didn't tell them. The bellman loaded and un-loaded our liquor and even ran and got ice for us. No issues.
  • This thread is fantabulous!!! We are looking to have an in-suite reception at the Media Suite in February!  Thanks for all of this great input!!  Were you guys able to book the Media Suite online or did you have to call to make a reservation?
  • Does the vista suite have a terrace or balcony?
  • @Lyndseyj1 No it doesn't.  If you are looking for a balcony check out the Cosmopolitan wrap around or the MGM Grand skyloft.  Both look beautiful but we are going with the Cosmopolitan.

  • Thanks @shoebunnie. Are you having outside caters? The wraparound looks great, I'm having 25 guests do you think it is a good enough size for this many people???
  • There is not enough seating for 25 people but the suite appears big enough. Vegas groom would probably know that answer! Yes, we are doing outside catering.. Like the rest of the hotels they state it is not allowed however all of the vendors I have spoken to have assured me they come to the Cosmopolitan on a regular basis.

  • The two complaints about the cosmo are definitely a shortage of seating for larger parties, and the wraparound suites require key access to get to them in the elevator, so that can require some planning.  I haven't heard of anyone getting kicked out of one for noise but Cosmo does tell you you're not supposed to have more than 6 people in the suite.

  • August 3rd wedding. Had no problem with liquor or noise! We had about 40 plus people! Only complaint it got really warm with two many lights on. Keep the lights down low and don't open the curtains until the reception starts. We rented 10 chairs and 3 tables from RSVP rental. Busy weekend too One Direction concert!
  • @candis83 who did you use for your catering?

  • I'm a year out from my wedding and considering a insuite wedding/reception.  We've got a small budget since we are working toward buying a house and recovering from a big surprise expense from an emergency (murphy's law!).

Anyway, I know this is way early, but this forum post is SO helpful and is really making me lean toward Insuite.  I'm really interested to hear how everyone's special day/night goes.

What is everyone's budget like?  I know that's a pretty righteous question, but I'm hoping to get a better idea of the number of people I can invite based on other people's events.  I'm considering Mandalay's Vista Suite in comparison with MGM's Terrace Suite and hoping to land my guest list between 45-50.  I've been to Mandalay tons of times for work conventions and I got bumped up to a 2 bedroom suite once, so I kind of know what to expect from them.

It's good to hear that there are rarely noise complaints, that was a major concern of mine.  It would suck to have your wedding celebration ruined by something like that.
  • So no one has had an issue with security shutting down the reception? I am considering booking the hospitality suite but don't see many reviews on it... anyone have any thoughts? Thank you all this forum is a lifesaver!!
  • Hi All. I am just under a month away from my Vegas wedding, and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the great information. I will look into RVSP to rent hi-tops, linens, glasses, and a cooler. Thanks krissstye12!

The issues with the hospitality suite are one, the fact that it has no bedroom so you're going to have to book a second room to sleep in, and two, you may encounter issues if you try to book it with zero catering from Mandalay since technically you're not allowed to bring in your own catering and having a catered party is typically the only reason to book that room.

  • I have the Vista Suite booked for my 10/19/13 reception! I have roughly the same number of guests as well as DJ in the suite and Masterpiece Catering apps. I decided to rent 3 high top tables, 1 banquet table and some extra folding chairs. I read alot of feedback on TK and found that it really came in handy and it is also fairly inexpensive especially if you p/u yourself. What else are you doing for the reception? Any other vendors? Just curious, it is coming up sooo soon!!

Plleasse tell me how everything went, what dj did u use, did u have any problems.
