XP: 6-8 Weeks Before Wedding or RSVP Date

I posted this on the Invites and Paper board, but I know this board receives a lot more traffic.

I know that you are supposed to send out invites 6-8 weeks beforehand, but is it 6-8 weeks before the wedding date or the RSVP date?  My wedding is April 4, 2014 and the RSVP date is March 14, 2014 because the venue needs the head count on March 28 so it gives us a week to gather the last minute RSVP cards and call those we haven't heard from; and also because the hotel room block expires on March 14.

Thanks ladies!

Re: XP: 6-8 Weeks Before Wedding or RSVP Date

  • I have heard 6-8 weeks before the wedding: a couple weeks to allow for time in the mail to your guests, then a couple weeks back to you, so you should know the guest number at least two weeks before your wedding.  I think you should be fine if you send them 8 weeks before your wedding.  That gives about 5 weeks for your guests to receive the invite and mail them back before March 14.  I would not send them 8 weeks before March 14.  That would put you into January and seems too early for an April wedding.

  • Yes what @JCBride2014 said. Send them the first or second week of February and you'll be good.
