Help a creatively challenged girl out..

I'm trying to put together two small "themed" gift baskets.  One for gentlemen, i.e. potentially whiskey related, and one for ladies, i.e. potentially wine related.. yes there is a commonality here ;-)  Anyway, I can't really get past any ideas besides a bottle of le potential alcohols and a flask or decorative wine glasses, respectively.  What would you add to the baskets, or what other ideas for baskets do you have?  Thanks in advance!

  • What are these gift baskets for?

For whiskey baskets-- ingredients for a classic drink, like sours? Cigars, maybe some sort of snack (think salty rather than sweet for most guys: pretzels, jerky, summer sausage, cheese, nut mix, popcorn). Deck of cards for poker or a travel-size game?

For wine baskets-- chocolates, fruit, high-end cheeses, crackers? candles? Decorative bottle stoppers? Fridge magnets with a cute saying?
  • I like what Kitty suggested. Honestly, I'd rather just get two bottles of wine that I like instead of one bottle with snacks. I collect enough glassware on my own, I really don't need the help.

    Anniversary
  • For the whiskey, I might include whiskey stones and some aromatic bitters.

I'd be careful with the candles and food products like cheeses and crackers because a lot of candles will transfer their scents to absorbent foods and who wants cheese that tastes like clean linen?  I would stick to a lot of edibles though, they're more generally effective as gifts because they appeal to a good range of people.
  • I'd skip bar ware. I have so.so.so much and so does everyone else.

Wine stopper, chocolate, candle (in glass with a lid should be fine), crackers & cheese would all be stuff I loved.
  • For the wine basket, you could include wine charms, cocktail napkins (they have really cute ones with cute sayings at TJ Maxx), a bottle stopper, and chocolate.

For the whiskey basket, you could include coasters, cigars, salty snacks, and a deck of cards.

  • Thanks for the great suggestions!  I see what you mean about staying away from bar ware, but the edibles would totally tie in and be doable.  :-)
